Appearing wealthy to attract dates.

Recommended Posts

I'm not rich, but well off. I'd like to short term date women who are looking for rich men.

I really don't want to shell out for expensive dinners, and such.

I'd like to conduct myself in a manner that conveys wealth to such people. For the 1st time in my life, I'm buying a BMW or Mercedes, so that "prop" is all taken care of.

Where do such women scout for wealthy gents? I'll need to hang there. I've heard that they can be found in bars in wealthly areas. ??

Clothing? I'm hoping comfy clothes (with the right spin) could indicate wealth ?? No gold chains please.

I'm looking for ideas on cheap activities that won't ruin the wealthy image. I'm thinking Indie cinima, art gallery that kind of thing.

Sooner or later they'll find I'm a cheap skate, but we would have had some fun by then, no harm done.

I suppose the comfy clothes could be explained as " I'm self employed and don't have to dress up"

or " I'm taking the day off"

I've read that hunters of rich men will date any ol rich guy (even if they don't want him) to meet his wealthy friends. If true, you'll need to befriend some rich guys to move in their circle. (that might be expensive)

I find men and women hunting for wealthy people to be distasteful, the tactics they use determines just how far any particular one might go.

So if guy wants to play them, they deserve it.

Same for the ladies, if you're mature and some 25 year old thinks you're rich...enjoy.

Try the homeless shelters in your area

Most women can smell a skunk a million miles away

I can answer your question, Gold Pile, but first I need a little background...as in, why is this a goal? You prefer your women shallow and superficial? You want to make sure they dump you when they really get to know you? You want to see how little you can spend on a date?

Fact: Women look for men who are wealthy and can provide. Fact: Men look for women who are very good looking and can eventually mother a family. So, why is a man a troll when he makes himself appear rich to attract the most beautiful women? Women lie every day when they get out of bed. They wear makeup to hide blemishes, they wear tall heels to appear taller, they wear push up bras to make their breasts look bigger. They buy expensive clothing to make them appear desirable. Get off this guy, he is just playing the mating dance.

Fact: most people are ordinary-looking and end up with ordinary-looking partners. They just think each other is stunning. Rhea Perlman thinks Danny DeVito is the hottest man alive. That, too, is fact.

Well, it depends what category of gold-digger you're looking for. The "no gold chains please" comment indicates that you see yourself as a subtle, classy guy...so I'm guessing that you will want female sidekicks who fit in with that image. This rules out your common or garden gold-diggers who's looking for nothing more than a big wad of ready cash for a series of wild nights out and a porsche cabriolet that - much like her - won't be repossessed until the end of the summer

A professional gold-digger with looks, style and the smarts is probably more your sort. The problem is that you will probably not be hers...particularly when she realises (ie after 3.5 seconds) that you're faking it. Still, you can but try.

Buy an expensive pair of shoes and a couple of high quality cashmere sweaters. Cultivate a gracious manner and strangulate your vowels. Send yourself mail, open it in front of women (hiding the stamp) and make subtle, casual comments indicating that it's got something to do with a Swiss bank account. Pay close attention to share prices. Note any dramatic risers, then pretend you own a large holding in that particular company. Read F Scott Fitzgerald if you're American, and Nancy Mitford if you're not.

Yeah but there's a huge difference between putting on makeup and hiding blemishes to "pretending" you're loaded with $$! Apples and oranges. Come on. It's a complete LIE from the start!

The mating dance this guy is doing will make him end up alone.

I disagree. Throw out the fact that society expects women to appear beautiful and perfect; or for the men to be the breadwinners. Down to the very core, I see no difference between a man driving a car that he cannot afford to a woman who wears expensive clothing/makeup that she cannot afford to attract the opposite sex.

I must disagree WWIU. For most men it is resources/money that count in the mating game and for women it is looks that count most. So faking or "embellishing" either is the same as far as I'm concerned...

Let's hop off that high horse, shall we? The guy wants to end up alone, or were you too busy being outraged to read that?

Lindya, I agree with you, but would advise an even more subtle approach. Don't comment on finances - just talk about your last, or next, vacation. Travel is the easiest way to demonstrate wealth without looking like you're trying.

If he plays the game right, he sure won't be alone in bed on Saturday nights.....

Women who want rich men, want him spending it. If I see a guy and I know he has money, but is not trying to impress me with his wealth (or let's say, seduce me with a nice dinner, gifts and flowers), then I would think he is cheap or become suspicious. You have money, you like this girl, you better spend it on her.

that's true LOONY...having grown up in the 2nd wealthiest county in the U.S. i've seen a lot of wealthy people. Most are pretty smart and can sniff out a fake a mile away. You may be able to fool them for a bit but eventually your secret will leak out.

 Whatever. You don't know me, but if I gave off that "High Horse" aura, you read me completely wrong. Outraged? Nope. Got that wrong too.

3 disagree with me. Maybe I'm wrong, no big deal. Just my thoughts on it.

I see your points, all I'm saying is leading somebody on to make it look like he makes ALOT of money is different than putting on makeup and dressing sexy. It's all part of attracting others, I get that, but he's LYING.

Do you all atleast kind of see my point? And yes, he wants to end up alone - He is just out for a good time. There are tons of women I"m sure who will fall for that, I know I wouldn't. That's all.

Sometimes he will, sometimes he won't. He seems like he's mostly a fan of the chase.

Not necessarily. Women who want rich men, more often than not, want comfort and security in the long term moreso than fancy gifts in the short term. He's banking on the fact that they will see him as a long term investment and make a concerted effort in the beginning to convince him that they aren't in it for the money. While they think they're fooling him, he's fooling them.

Sometimes he will win, sometimes he'll lose, but it could be a pretty entertaining ride.

ETA: WWIU, you seemed outraged because you criticized the guy for pursuing a strategy where he will end up alone, although he specifically said he wanted to end up alone.

You're describing some very desperate women, I'm not sure if he's after those.

See above for the basis for my opinion. I think he couldn't care less about their level of desparation.

Add to that the frequent miserly eccentricities of the very wealthy...though I think you'd need to be a good bit smarter than average and have excellent acting skills to pull the "Lord Tramp" image successfully. You'd also be expected to back up that image with some hard evidence pretty early on. It would therefore be useful to have a friend who can lend you a sprawling estate and a couple of slobbering labradors for the odd weekend.

You are right about this statement scratch.. But most women lose sight of the fact that money doesn't neccesarly mean comfort and security. and also whether he will part with the money.

This guy thinks that a bmw means rich.. He is being very short sighted

He is trying to find a woman that believes in the fairy tale that rich men spend money when in fact most do not ( they got rich someow and it wasn't by spending )

ask any waitress or car valet. the rich people tip the least and middle income people tip the most. the guy with a buick will tip the valet $5 whereas the guy with a bmw will tip only $2. :lmao:

I don't think it's a real post. I don't think he's rich at all. I think he's some regular joe who thinks he can pull a fast one for his own amusement. Sure sign? BMWs and Mercedes are ok but not the high-end prestige cars they used to be. If he was talking Jag or Ferrari, he might be what he claims to be.
