To many women/girls are over-weight.

Recommended Posts

I see it as harming our society, because it means good people that deserve and should be getting in to relationships, both the in shape and the over-weight, are not because one group is not taking care of themselves.

Are not because some people can´t see beyond the form.

FAT WOMEN don't like fat men. They like their guys with a flat stomach.

flat stomachs are boring. So are hairless bodies. I want my men to look like men, and if that means he's got some pudge, I'm cool with that.

besides, sex isn't enjoyable when you've got some skinny guy's hip bone cutting through your flesh and causing pain

OP, so all women should be thin so they're more available for you to date? why should all persons fit around your tastes?

what silliness is this? lol... a fat woman who finds fat men unattractive is being hypocritical. It's denigrating something which you already have. i doubt many fat women have flat stomachs lol.

It's a huge problem in the States, but it's also spilling over to other countries. As the woman said who wrote 'Japanese Women Don't Get Fat or Old', she was in great shape until she came to the States to go to college. Then her weight shot up. And people in Japan are becoming obese lately where this has never been an issue before because McDonald's and other American food chains have made their way to their country.

I also believe that it has mostly to do with the chemicals that are put in our foods - not just in fast foods, but in so-called fresh foods from the grocery stores. Meat has antibiotics and hormones in it, chemicals and other synthetic subtances are in our foods and our bodies just don't know what to do with these things. People are constantly eating processed foods and no longer think anything of it. The non-fat foods are chemically altered in order to make them the way they are. Even restaurants spray lettuce with a chemical that makes the lettuce stay green longer. The 'fake' sugars like Splenda and NutraSweet are just more chemicals that are toxins to our bodies. I'm so allergic to NutraSweet that if someone gave me about a tablespoon of it, I would literally die. The thing is, women seem to be more susceptable to the effects of these things. The problem with obesity has only come on the scene in the last 30 yrs or so. This should tell us all something right there. Our diets are way more important than we care to admit.

The thing is, it's usually very difficult for young people to gain weight. So, for this to be such a national issue, something must be going on. My teenage son has no weight issues at all. But he doesn't eat junk food and he's a swimmer. But he has female cousins who battle their weight constantly, and they never eat fast food. How is this even possible? Something must be going on.

But regardless of the reasons, don't kid yourself into thinking that most women are ok with being overweight. It haunts them like a dark cloud every moment of the day. And Hollywood and commercials and marketing are a constant reminder of how women are supposed to look. And, really, I agree - it's not a natural state for our bodies to be overweight. But I've seen women nearly kill themselves trying to lose weight and they make no headway at all. This is extremely discouraging and dr's are useless when trying to talk to them about it. The only real solution is for people to eat only organic foods. But this is extremely time-consuming and expensive, so it's a difficult thing to do.

Society (porn) has classified women as titties and a virgina. As long as you have the equipment there will be men who want you no matter how big the donor.

What's a virgina?

It's the same silliness as when a man, no matter how average, below-average, or just plain ugly he is, still wants to date a supermodel. :)

This is a tough topic. IMO it's a societal issue, but with a lot of genetics thrown into the mix. The amt of derision heaped upon overweight people is uncalled for - there are some very ugly stereotypes thrown around that "justify" this derision but in the end serve no purpose other than to make the hater feel better about themselves because they're "better than" in some superficial way.

I'm not immune from it myself, but a few things are changing my attitudes about weight and obesity. One is my 7-year old nephew who, simply put, inherited his dad's genes and not his mom's. He is a big kid, no question, with a big appetite. His parents are trying to moderate what he eats and how much without giving him a complex about his appearance or eating habits (not easy!!). In contrast, his little brother is skinny as a rail and has the appetite of a mouse. So, in my mind, no question, there is a genetic component to all this. As someone else said, not everyone is meant to be superthin, or even thin.

Second, there seems to be overwhelming evidence that diets don't work for the vast majority of people who try to lose weight. Think about it: the dieting industry is bigger than ever, but Americans are still getting bigger and bigger. In addition to the usual reasons people say diets don't work, I suspect that part of it may well have to do with all the chemicals and preservatives etc that we put in our food. Who's to say that our genes haven't been screwed up by all these additives such that our bodies don't respond the way they are supposed to anymore?

Third, some months back I stumbled onto a few blogs of people who are part of what is called the "fat acceptance" movement. Sure, I see a lot of anger and resentment among this blogging community, but I have also learned a lot about the hidden prejudices many of us carry around every day that might cause this kind of anger. To me 'fat-ism' isn't very different from any other -ism we may rail against. It's been humbling to me to see the ways in which I've bought into, and even fed, fat-ism in my own life.

[/off soapbox]

Now...off to play Wii golf w/ my bro-in-law!

The reason why men and women are overweight?

They consume more calories than they expend - common sense. What contributes to this? Americans are probably the 3rd hardest working and productive nation in the world - probably second to Japanese and South Koreans, whom include Saturday in their work week. We Americans have little time to commit to physical fitness.

Most of our jobs are service related and don't require physical fitness. Insurance/finance, energy, computer/technical - are mostly desk jobs.

Our transportation infrastructure is made up of highways and roads, travelled by vehicles.

Take a group of people whom work alot of hours sitting at a desk, have no functional need for fitness and use cars to get to work and you can see they don't spend as many calories as they consume. Again with little free time for fitness.

Europeans work fewer hours and commute via foot, bicycle with public transport for the same distance that we Americans commute. Our transport is laid out differently - but Europeans are thinner because they have more time for active hobbies and use more calories moving around.

Asians commute similarly as they live in tighter communities with little room for personal vehicles but they are genetically predisposed to being thinner - still same results as Europeans.

European rates of obesity aren't that lower than the USA.

It's a global thing, since lifestyles have changed. And don't mention diet either lol. Across the world, people are eating more refined and processed foods.

Wikipedia is a terrible source to quote, but it gives you some good leads to higher quality ones. Yeah, I can see the global thing.

.... im sure other countries as well, wayyyy to many fat or just medium-level obese females.

It comes from a 'busy' but non-active lifestyle and it's a small fraction of the world affected.

I see woman in their online dating profile 'average' but they are fat.

People have different standard depending where they are from

If I see a 5'5" woman and she wears over size 6, she is chubby

I agree that there are many Fat men and women in U.S but it's true even fat guys make fun of fat women lol

Btw one thing I hate to see about fat women is that they drink 'Diet something' and believe that it will do the trick while eating ice cream, burger, cheese cake etc. that's just stupid

I know this is not going to make me Mr. Popular with the moralists, but I really don't care, because its oh so true.

There are, at least everywhere I have been, both north and south U.S., and im sure other countries as well, wayyyy to many fat or just medium-level obese females. I mean the ratio of visibly overweight females in Texas alone has got to be something like 6 out of 10 or something, I mean it's that bad, and generally not much better elsewhere as far as I have seen.

I really do think I know what is the root cause that enables these, lets call it what it is, fat women, to stay fat. It's their parents/family and or friends telling them their whole life that they are "fine" and that they "don't need to change a thing.." when in reality they need to be told something along the lines of "your fat, go workout and wake the F up about your body"

Yes there are fat men, oh lord no doubt, but I would say after 21 years of living that the ratio of fat men is only like 4/10, maybe worse elsewhere, not as bad as with women from what I have witnessed.

Like I really see how this messes up society almost, because like me and 6 other guys will be sitting, and there will be like 8 or so girls standing over yonder, yet only 2-3 if that are in what would be considered "good" shape, and the others go from bad to worse. I have actually known good looking guys, guys who workout and all that, that have had to have sex with direly out of shape women or just be single all because there just aren't enough in shape women to go around for the amount of in shape men, I find that disturbing.

And no im not "jealous" or w/e is gonna be the most popular attack line, I am luckily above the fray in terms of looks when it comes to guys and have no prob getting the in shape girls which are a rarity, yet it irks me that this seems to be the case.

with you on this mate. and i would say that there are more ulgy guys than there are good looking guys, even though more guys stay in shape. out of most people i know only 2 guys are way to big. and there are lots of girls who are just fat

A lot of men are fat too, in developed nations at least. Men tend to have more muscle mass and often participate in more sports when younger but the obesity plague knows no gender lines. In dating women tend to be less visual than men, so males get some additional slack there but it's not gender specific.

If you're "average" in America, then you're overweight. Statistically, the average man/women in America is overweight. Keep that in mind if you're online dating.

Oh god, I know. Who do they think they're kiddding? lol. Diet anything usually won't make one bit of difference anyway. I've even heard it will make your body crave more calories, how will that help you? These people should learn that the best way to diet is to just cut out soda COMPLETELY! Water is the best, and 100% fruit juice rocks too! Much better than putting artificial sweeteners (which I detest!) into the body.

Can I also just point something out? "Thin/skinny" does not mean "healthy". I have a friend who eats crap (chocolate, crisps, take aways, you name it) and he doesn't do more excersise than walking to and from work everyday (where he sits in an office all day) - and he's thin, has been all his life.

Oh and although I don't drink much soda any more - the diet stuff usually tastes better than the normal stuff! :D

Reminds me of that film, Wall-E.

There is too much choice out there with food.

Its readily available to everyone, there is lots of food to suit all budgets, you don't have to hunt it or even prepare it yourself.

Most people don't walk to the supermarket- they drive.

Its a problem in my country too. Nobody seems to know what to do about it.

I read through the 1st 2 pages, and I had to laugh at all of the obesity apologists on here.

There is absolutely no excuse for allowing oneself to become obese. Yes, there are medical conditions that cause this- and that's excusable...but come the **** on. Look at the media trying to shove "plus size" models down our throats to appease the lard butts in this country. Being overweight is not healthy- it causes long term effects like diabetes, heart disease, etc. We have enough people on welfare in the US we're paying for, why should we have to pay for the disabled due to gluttony.

I am not stick-thin, but I'm still in the single digits size-wise and have a BMI of 21...yet I'm continually harassed at work during the lunch hour for eating healthy. It figures that my bullies are all overweight, chowing down on chili cheese fries and pepsi...who complain about being overweight. Excuse me?!

It's not that difficult to lose weight. Eat less. Move more. And don't eat after 7 pm. And...it is cheaper to pack your own lunch with healthy items ahead of time instead of running through a drive thru.
