yea but I meant where the kid would go after their parent is thrown in jail...

Gotcha! ;) Hitting a child is never a win/win situation for anyone.

Regardless.... parents should not be beating their kids.

personally i think a parent should have the right to beat their kid if they want. as long as they don't endanger life & limb...

Regardless.... parents should not be beating their kids. If the police need to intervene then so be it.

Spanking a child is just wrong. For whatever reason. I feel it's a lazy way to discipline a child. If a parent needs to spank, it's cause they have no other options that are working for them.

If I had a quarter every time I saw a small kid get swatted, then turn around and smack their brother or sister.

My kids never hit to get their way with each other. They talk it out. Sometimes, yell...but, no violence.

can a six year old even masterbate? :lmao:

That's what I was thinking

you're totally wrong. kids have been beaten by their parents since time started. the last generation or two who's parents didn't believe in beatings are totally screwed up and irresponsible. Don't tell me that beatings don't work. i am a prime example that beating do work. kids need to be beaten. it is god's will. kids are running the show now a days cause their parents have been castrated

Well, I don't make the laws. Nor would I want to have a policeman at my door for 'beating' my kid.

I like this statement and I agree with it.

If you want people to drop that part of the conversation, don't keep bringing it up. Because I can just as easily go back to talking about you versus what we are talking about now.

its funny how the kids who grew up during the era of beatings were much more responsible than the kids today. the proof's in the pudding

For how responsible a child grows up to be is not just from how they were disciplined as a child. Thats just a small percentage of what determines it.

Maybe people have decided beatings are bad for a reason. Notice a lot of people coming out the 'beaver cleaver' era ended up with alcohol problems, and issues in dealing with and displaying emotions.

Children learn behavior from their parents, if all they see is beatings for everything, that's all they will ever know as a means of solving problems. The cycle of violence needs to stop.

The kids that are out of control are not disciplined at all. Kids don't need to be beaten to be disciplined, but they do need to be shown there are consequences for their actions.

You are not the only one here that feels misunderstood.

I believe one way, you believe another. I am stating why I feel strongly one way, you are stating why you feel strongly another way.

What is the problem??

what kind of consequences? oh, they can't use the PlayStation for a week? or maybe no TV for a day......yeah they'll learn a lot from that!

I grew up thinking it was normal for my parents to beat me. Beatings that involved a board, bare butt, spanked till I peed myself. But, it was justified cause it was on my butt.

Guess what, the first relationship right out the gate was an abusive one. Go damn figure.

I thought it was normal to get hit...and be treated that way.

The problem is people arent agreeing with her, therefore she needs to keep bringing it up later on in the conversation (after asking to have it dropped several times when she was under fire), after seeing the slightest opportunity to receive an iota of agreement.

IMO, the sarcastic comments need to stop, because either the previous conversation is dropped or it isn't. You can't have it both ways, switching when it's most convenient.

Thats one of the downsides of any sort of abuse/spankings going on while growing up. You think that it is acceptable to get hit when it is not.

look....one main problem with todays kids is they have been coddled too much. they have been told by teacher and parents that there are no losers, only winners. they've been told that if you get all "C's" in school that is OK, they have been told that if you don't win the ball game that is OK, WELL ITS NOT OK!!!!.....these same kids have had no consequences of their bad actions. what sorta generation are we raising here? a bunch of pussies.

Things like that work when they're properly reinforced. You need to pick something that they enjoy doing the most, for it to be effective.

If the kid plays playstation constantly, taking it away for a week will be hell for him.

Beating the sh*t out of him will only teach him to resent you, and that violence is the solve-all for problems.
