date range for a 36 years old single man

Recommended Posts

i'm 23 and I don't think I would ever wanna date a man that is in his mid 30s.

I think 28 is the max I would go and he would have to be a real catch.

You would be better off dating women your own age, give or take 7 years. Latest you can hope for is late 20s my friend.

Yeah, you are right. Some late 20s women still thinks I am out of their dating range...

I am a 36 years old single man. I never married before. I want to date women within the age range 25 to 31. But I found that many women within this age range do not want to date mid aged man. I don't want to date women close or over my age. I am afraid if I am hit 40 years old, it will be much harder for me to find younger women. I hope some young women in this forum can give me some suggestions. Or tell me what is the realistic date range for me?:(

Not a woman, but I'm a guy that has dated women in that age range (and younger). A couple of things that can increase your chances: workout (looks do matter; guys in that age range are pretty much naturally thin and/or ripped), be fun (they don't want to date a boring guy, but act your age. Playing beer pong is immature for your age, but taking her out for drinks and to a casino or something is more mature fun), hypergamy (this is your main advantage: having higher social status, wealth, and position relative to men in the 20-year old age range). The more you optimize those areas, the better chance you have.

Thanks.

Yeah, I agree with you that many older women still very hot and sexy. I learned that women over 35 is risky in giving birth. So, I would like to go for younger women.

Really are you marrying a baby machine or are you trying to find your soul mate?

Mid aged? Is that how you see yourself? Perhaps that's the problem.

Statistically, you'll find the majority of women are often most comfortable with someone 2-7 years older than themselves. Outside of that age range, you'll find progressively fewer who are open to it and more who see it as an issue. If you think of yourself as 'old' and look it, that'll compound the problem. Likewise if you insist on only dating the most attractive twentysomethings.

Essentially your options are limited by your market value. How tall, attractive, and fit are you? How good is your job and how financially secure are you? How charismatic and funny are you?

Raise your dating value enough and you can date whomever you want. If you can't or won't, then you need to rein in your requirements.

it is easier said than done. On dating app, most of my matches have married before or having children. I don't want to find divorced women...

Well, with that attitude...

what's the problem with dating a divorced woman?

It seems you have unrealistic standards.

I was married when I was 20-22, that was 10 years ago and I was very young and naive.

I am 31 now, so what, I could not date you because of this?

This is so silly it almost makes me mad!!!

You really need to open up more, be more open to a wider range of ages and a you will have much more satisfying experiences.

Open it up to 40 or so. Plenty of women in their 30s and 40s that want to settle down and have biological children.

The OP is not interested in older women. He wants a young woman.

At 36 you're at the greatest point in your dating life - you can easily date anyone from 21 to 51.

I don't think you'd have issues dating younger women at 40. Most women are looking for a bit older guy anyway.

If you want kids- stick to women under 35. If not - older women can be great for you too, don't underestimate them:)

As some people on this forum (sorry, I forget who) say, you only need to find ONE person who meets your criteria and who wants to be with you. So if the OP wants a young, unmarried woman, that's his business, as long as he is prepared to hunt long and hard. And if he wants to maximize his chances of having a biological child, that's also his business. Rejection and judgment from others would matter little if he succeeds in this quest.

While women can have children into their 40s, the ease of doing so has been exaggerated by mainstream media. Medical studies show that a woman's fertility starts to decrease steadily after age 35. Most women under 35 can get pregnant within a year with a partner who has no issues himself. After 35, that is not so easy. After 40, it is unlikely without intervention. Again, that is for most people. Your mileage may vary.

And of course, older women AND MEN have a higher risk of birth defects as genetic damage increases as we age.

If OP is serious about the child thing, he had better get his swimmers tested himself so that he can prove to his future young, unmarried, fertile partner that he is capable of getting the job done.

Ummmm. Yeah I don’t know about that. Have you met anyone at that age who’s dating a 49 year old or a 21 year old. The odds are slim.

Actually I know quite a few men in their mid thirties who are dating women in their early 20s. Are you kidding that seems to be all they want.

I went back to college at around 34. I was pleasantly surprised by how many 18-21-year-old women were interested in a guy my age. Some 19-year-old crazy chick had a hardcore crush on me, I went out with 21 and 26-year old ladies, and befriended many others. As an older guy, you shouldn't go around hitting on young women like it is your thing, but if you play it cool, enough of them should come your way without you going for them. You especially do not want to make it known that you are hunting for younger ladies exclusively. Women do not take kindly to that sort of thing.

So good. I am in College as well. I am trying to finish my doctorate degree in this year. I will take your advice! So good!:)

Where do those men live? I’ll move to the area. Although, I’d rather date someone with more life experience and maturity. I think 30 and up would be best.

Did you start doing your PhD late? I assume most of the fellow PhD students in your college are in their 20s, no? But please don’t date undergrads, as it might appear creepy :p

I didn’t know people lived there. Ha. lol

But you know what? Going back to get a higher degree seems like the best idea.....if the information provided a few posts up is true across the board regardless of location.

Just imagine, two full time university students; the budget for the wedding will be in the $500 range or less. I could probably auction off the spare tire in my car. That should add another $50, enough for a bigger cake.

I know, I know. It’s all coming together now. So romantic. lol

Yeah, plenty. On top of my head it comes: I dated a 46 yo man when I was 27 yo. I'm now 33 yo, dating 47 yo man. BF was 28 yo when he dated 50 yo woman. Best friend was 52 yo when she started dating 24 yo guy (still together decades later!).

I think at 36 (30-40) you're right in the middle age so very flexible in terms of age range. As long as it's over age of consent, I really don't see any issues. Maybe not in OLD though - there people get weirdly fixed on age LOL, my own range has always been stringent (like when I was using it the last time, at 32, I think I put 30-40 but life has proven me wrong :D)

My auntie is 75, her husband is 45. They've been together 25 years. They're always together and very happy.

Things get far more complex when one of the people in the relationship has children from a previous marriage/relationship in tow.

I think that’s what the original poster might also be referring to.

I recently watched the movie Cyrus with John C. Reilly. His character had to deal with one obstacle after another. I certainly wouldn’t want to be in his character’s shoes. Or be in the same circumstances as his character’s.

Each situation is unique. It's not always a situation from hell. My brother had custody of his 8 year old son when he met his current wife. My nephew fell in love with her! It was so cute! My brother's ex was always cooperative and never interfered. We don't hear those happy stories often enough, we're always bombarded with horror stories.
