Feeling like I'm missing out

So I went today to the new doctor & he just said for him to do anything he needs all my medical records from my other doctor first for him to treat me. So I have to wait about 4 weeks to see him again & see what he can do for me after he looks at the tests & everything I've had done. If he can't do anything for me after all that time I'm going to be really upset. I seriously feel like I'm losing it some days. I have a bit of a headache at the moment due to this muscle issue or whatever it is. I'm just so annoyed at this point.

Hang in there NJ. Doctors gave me a hard time too. It took me 7 years before I got diagnosed. I saw about 15 doctors before I found one who actually had a brain. Hopefully it doesn't take you that long. Don't be put off by their arrogance/apathy. If this doctor can't help you, keep searching. Good luck.

I just feel I'm at my breaking point here with this crap. It sometimes makes me wish I wasn't even around anymore just waking up everyday like this. I mean how will I ever have a normal life like this. I just wish I can get my life back instead of just waiting & waiting for something to happen & it never does. I want to have a relationship as well as I want to feel good about doing things like going to school & trying to get another job but all my health issues just keep holding me back. I seriously don't know how I'm going to feel from moment to moment. It's just ridiculous.

Right now I mainly get burning in my head/ears where it feels like a nerve is affected which might be why I get that fogginess feeling in my head, occasional odd dizziness symptom, face muscles hurting when eating at times or when I open my mouth wide, clicking/popping/crackling in/near my ear, swollen lymph nodes on/right near my right jaw line, occasional headaches - sometimes they're just mild while other times they can be really bad but it's more rare lately to get the bad headaches.

Are you certain you're not dislocating your jaw? It sounds weird I know but I know someone who does this. The clicking and popping in your jaw is what's making me think of this. A partially dislocated jaw can create all of those symptoms because there is a nerve that runs right near that joint. You can dislocate your jaw just by opening your mouth too wide actually.

I don't know if it's my jaw, tmj joint or some other muscle in my face that's causing the dysfunction. It just feels like something on my right side right near my ear feels really weak & the muscle feels loose & weird. Than it sometimes just pops completely out of socket & I start to hear the clicking/popping sounds in it. And when I swallow I get crackling sounds most of the time. I just don't know anymore. I'm just here living with the same issue day to day with no one helping me. Right now as I type I can feeling the fogginess feeling in my head along with the burning sensations. I'm sure whatever it is is affecting a nerve. But I just don't know what to do to fix it. I was hoping I could see a chiropractor about this since I feel it might be my last hope at this point.

Can you tell me if your ear is affected? Like a pulling from inside your head, along with the feeling that someone is driving a hot poker down your ear canal?

Any clicking noises in your ear, or vibrations?

I have a reason for asking, but will get to that in a sec.

Edit: that nerve is probably your trigeminal nerve.

The thing is I don't get much pain but more so just a horrible burning sensation in my ears & literally in my head like it's some sort of nerve being affected. I do get slight ear pains at times but nothing substantial. Also ever since this started I've had to spit up green phlegm. I don't cough it up but I literally just start to feel something stuck in my throat than I have to spit it up. And yeah I get clicking noises as well. The thing is I've already seen 2 ENTs & they couldn't find anything wrong. It's just some sort of mystery illness that no one can figure out & everyone labels me like I'm crazy. I just want some answers. Even if someone figured out what it was & I needed surgery I'd actually be looking forward to the surgery knowing I can finally get this issue fixed. That's how much I'm sick of this.

Do me a favor, read this. Don't worry about the medical terminology, just go down to the bolded header 'pain'. Start there and tell me if you have any of the other symptoms.

Do I Have Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome (TTTS)?

I'm going thru something myself, and have been trying to figure it out for months. I blew an eardrum as a result of whatever is going on, had surgery three months ago, and it's not healed properly. I'm probably looking at hearing loss.

You might want to Google trigeminal neuralgia as well, but start with this. I'll talk you thru the jumbo jumbo.

I already went to an oral surgeon about this. And he suggested I had trigeminal neuralgia. But isn't trigeminal neuralgia have to do with severe pain? I don't get hardly any pain with my issue so I don't think it could be that. And I'll check the link out now.

An oral surgeon may not be your best bet (for TMJ, yes) but not if a lot of these other symptoms ring true. There's no way to test for it. It's all based on symptoms.

Yes, TGN is bad, really bad. I think you'd know if that was it.

Yeah, it's definitely not TGN.

I looked at the link & it's just so hard to say whether it could be that or among many other things. I feel a few of those things I have but not all of them. What's the treatment for it if it actually was that?

Well, anxiety makes it worse, so anything to cut down on that helps. Too little, too late for my eardrum, but I talked my doc into some Valium to prove my theory. I was right.

But, the definitive answer seems to lie in chiropractic. Not just any bone cruncher, but one who specializes in the very upper spine, C1-C2. You don't want them randomly jerking you around there. Have you ever been rear ended, no matter how minor, or taken a blow to the head?

As for the green stuff you spit up, that doesn't seem to be related to the above, but my DDS has suggested sluggish parotid glands. Do you ever put moist heat to the side of your head/cheek and get relief? Does the whole area in front of your ear feel puffy and almost, but not quite, numb? Like just funny? For lack of a better word. Almost funny to the touch. It's weird, can't quite explain it, but it extends across my cheek all the way to my nose.

Yeah, I'd really need to try seeing a chiropractor. That's the one thing I haven't done yet & it's why I wanted to go to a new doctor. But now I have to wait until the middle of next month for my next appointment since the new doctor needs to see my medical records in order to decide on what he wants to do. I just have a feeling he's going to label me as crazy as well after he sees how many tests & doctors I've been to.

I've tried heating pads in the past but I don't think it really helped at all. I do have these swollen lymph nodes on my right side right alongside my jaw line. I had them tested & they weren't cancerous or nothing but they never go away. I don't really feel any puffyness or numbness feeling by my ear. But the muscle right in front or somewhere alongside my ear just feels really loose/weak when I move it. And sometimes I can hear it pop out of place & the clicking/popping sounds start all over. But when it pops out of place it doesn't even hurt just hear a loud crackling sound. I just don't know what that specifically could be though.

Do you need to see an MD before seeing a chiropractor?

Here's a list of chiros in North America that specialize in upper C spine care.

Up C Spine - Practitioners

As you sure those are lymph nodes and not knots in your tendons? I had them so bad along the side of my neck that I had them injected with lidocaine. On the other hand, lymph nodes can simply be prominent if you're thin (I am).

You may want to try a good deep tissue release massage. That would be your cheapest start.

I think to get a referral with my specific insurance I do. I don't know how it works specifically with chiropractors since I've never been to one. And there's one not that far that specializes in C spine care.

And I'm pretty sure their lymph nodes as far as I know. I had a CT Scan done & they thought they were lymph nodes. How would I know if they were knots in my tendons & not swollen lymph nodes?

A tissue density such as knots may show up looking like lymph nodes on a CT. Depends who's reading it, I suppose. If they were nodes, and are swollen, someone should have addressed them. How big are we talking? Pea size?

Knots would go down with a good massage. With some of mine, I can put pressure on them (to the point of pain) and they will eventually release.

You should be able to check with your insurer to see if a referral is needed. I've never needed one, and have had many kinds of insurance. A lot of docs are still old school, and don't believe in chiropractors. They're coming around tho, I can tell you about the olden days. :lmao:

Yeah, they're not that big I can feel a few of them right near/on my right jawline.

And I'll see after the weekend about it to see if I'd need a referral for it.

That's an odd place to feel lymph nodes. How are your teeth?

Check into that referral, and post again.

My teeth are pretty much fine except some of them are a little chipped from supposed grinding. But my teeth are perfectly fine otherwise. And yeah, I don't know but that's where the lymph nodes are. Extremely close to my right jaw line or right on it.

And I did check into the referral & it has to do with my insurance specifically for why I need a referral. So every time I need to see some sort of specialist like a chiropractor, ENT, etc. I'd have to get a referral from my primary doctor.

I can't believe I have to wait another full month to see my doctor again. I'm experiencing the burning pretty bad right at this moment. This is just crazy. I keep saying it but I'm so frustrated where I just don't know how I'm supposed to have a completely normal life when I'm always dealing with this among other issues. I just don't get how I wound up in this position where I feel I'm never going to get better. It's like what am I supposed to do. Why do I keep waking up everyday dealing with the same issue where it never gets better? I'm just so beyond frustrated to the extreme that I'm still not better from this & what scares me is the uncertainty that it'll ever get better. How do I remain positive dealing with this as well as having to deal with a whole set of other issues on top of this? I just don't know how I wound up here.

Sounds to me like you grind from anxiety.

Aside from all the doctors what have you tried for yourself?

Yeah, the 2 dentists I went to said I did grind from anxiety & I have some chipped teeth due to it. But I've already tried 3 different night guards & they've done nothing to fix my issue. I've tried exercises that the physical therapist told me to do & that didn't help. I just don't know what to do anymore.

How often do you walk? And how long for?

As in totally not use a car or public transport?

I guess it depends if I'm out somewhere I tend to walk a bit. What did you have in mind to mention walking?

A bit?

Have you ever tried walking a lot, daily and seen the effects?

Try it. From tomorrow.
