She has admitted to feeling insecure about younger women being viewed as more attractive. While I think there is truth to what DY is saying, it isn't fair or rational to condemn men for having preferences. Probably because having a huge age gap is symptomatic of a shallow, superficial relationship and not simply "preferences"? For example, what does a 40 year old man have in common with a 22 year old woman? In most cases sweet FA, but he's interested in her only because she's young and youthful looking, and she has "trophy" value to him. Now in 9/10 cases, she won't be attracted to him physically or because they have a lot in common or chemistry, so what does he offer her? Well, he might be pretty rich, in which case she's using him to fund a lifestyle or/and pay off her debts, which again means it's a shallow arrangement. On the other hand, he may simply be capitalising on a young woman with low self-esteem and emotional/mental issues. Hence "daddy issues" and things like that. Just read some of the responses to the thread, "the younger the better", such attitudes can fairly and rationally be criticised and any mentally healthy woman would avoid men with those attitudes like the plague. Now in the case of the OP, there's only an 8 year age difference and it seems in his case that the age gap is secondary/coincidental, in which case, it's perfectly fine if she's willing to overlook his "baggage" (dead wife and a 10 year old son) 1 Link to post Share on other sites
