bigheartkindsoul Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Dating is a tool to possibilities of meeting the right person. Don't spend time thinking a person is right, when you know they are not right. I def agree with this. As long as you do know, if I am unsure I might pursue further dates to find out more before cutting them off. Although dating alone can be fun just as a standalone thing without the intent of meeting the love of your life. Just suppose it depends what place you are at in your life.
Lyssa Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I know what I want and one thing I don't want is thinking I can change or accept something in a person that is not there. Gee whizz... so true... so so true..
plainoldjared Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Dating is a tool to possibilities of meeting the right person. Don't spend time thinking a person is right, when you know they are not right. exactly, which is why i asked "isnt dating the act of meeting people and getting to know them so that you might one day be in a committed relationship?" I can't count how many of my friends who are now separated said, there was that one thing I ignored. That one thing may just be the end and can be comprised of anything that a person thinks they can change or accept. Again honesty and having the confidence to say what you mean and mean what you say Troutie, I got a question. Im sure you've written it somewhere but after reading so many threads I forget, have you been married before?
Author troutie jr Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 I def agree with this. Although dating alone can be fun just as a standalone thing without the intent of meeting the love of your life. Just suppose it depends what place you are at in your life. Possibilities in dating can be many things. Whether I want female company for a time or a relationship. The key is not having expectations. Go with the flow. I have met some terrific women dating who I still hold with high regard and remain as friends. Of course there are some I don't care to associate with ever again, but that sort of thing can happen with many people in all aspects of life.
coco_milkshake Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 One thing I learnt is not to get too emotional straight away. Take time to get to know the person first and not to get too attached. I guess thats a mistake me and my ex both made and our relationship ended very badly...
Author troutie jr Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Troutie, I got a question. Im sure you've written it somewhere but after reading so many threads I forget, have you been married before? I have been in 3 long term relationships. Never married. Learned alot and have no hard feelings towards the women.

Very wise Doll Saves you from alot of heartache down the road.
coco_milkshake Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Very wise Doll Saves you from alot of heartache down the road. Soo true. Its tough cos when I fall for someone, I fall for them hard without realising it until its too late. *sigh* That is still a work in progress but I am getting there. I just remember what it was like with my ex and that helps me a lot.
Author troutie jr Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Just suppose it depends what place you are at in your life. I think no matter what place a person is at in their life, some kind of compionship is required for most.
Author troutie jr Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 That is still a work in progress but I am getting there Doll we are all a work in progress As long as you learned from past behavior, you won't make the same mistake twice. At least let's hope it does not happen.

At least until I learn how to deal with her personality type
Lyssa Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Let me ask you this, Mr. Troutie-Hottie... How do you plan a date with someone you are interested in?
Art_Critic Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 How can a person’s emotions get so far invested in a date or a few dates? Sometimes I think peoples expectations can cause some of this.. throw in some loneliness and some past hurt/baggage and you can get someone who is so looking for something comfortable and non-lonely that they invest too fast... I have been in a relationship before that I invested too much too fast.. it is that type that rips your heart out and leaves your heart scared and closed..

Cobra_X30 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 That bit had me in stitches. :lmao: So are you going to come to Scotland and find a wife if you cant find a partner there?? The Coco is a good choice. Cool!!! I will go buy this really stunning dress Ive had my eye on for weeks. LOL... Sorry, but that tradition ended after the civil war! Which is probably for the best. I'm no good at tossing logs, and I hear the women in Scottland only want men that can really huck logs! I will come visit some day though! I'm sticking to the lowlands though, and maybe a trip to the Orkneys. I dont think you need a dress to be stunning!

Baggage makes for one troubled person. I walk from those.

As long as you look good in a kilt and are not afraid to be 100% Scotsman (ie wear nothing underneath it) then thats good enough for me. You better have Glasgow on your tour of Scotland. That is where the Coco is from. Awww thanks you wee cute puppy!!
Author troutie jr Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Let me ask you this, Mr. Troutie-Hottie... How do you plan a date with someone you are interested in? The norm is I ask her out for an intimate dinner. The quiet surroundings allows me to get to know her a little more than if we went scuba diving.
