The truth is no-one cares if being obese is an increased health risk. If PA was worried about increased health risks she wouldn't go mountain climbing.

People don't like fat, because it is ugly

but if you look a coupla hundred yrs ago fat people were considered desireable. it showed they were wealth and had enough to eat, only poor people were skinny.

I don't think so Alpha.

Down here a lot of Spanish guys like a girl to be curvy. They like her to have a big back yard, but one that pops out relative to a slenderish waist.

I think that's the type of body you're talking about. Curvy, not rotund.

My SIL weighed over 400 pounds. She died of cancer - not fat. My daughter - who was slim and active and healthy - died at age 14 of an enlarged heart.

People die. There is no changing that fact. I don't see why bashing ANYONE for any reason is or should be acceptable.

I think that you are right, I consider myself curvy, but some people may

would think that I am Fat, but I am not, I am very confident, and I love my body. But Pink A may not.

There are all shapes and sizes out there. not everyone can be a skinny minny.

Good for you, I wish more people had your attitude :) I actually think women are more attractive when they're curvy, if I was a man I'd be all about curves.

i would love to love your body too :lmao:

This isn't much different than someone calling a heavy person a fat cow.

I find it pretty hypocritical of you to talk that way when there have already been people posting on this very thread about how hurtful it is that people taunt them about being too skinny while at the same time you criticize someone else for the words they use when referring to heavy people.

hey, good point.

High risk outdoor activities like mountain climbing include not only health risks but also search and rescue costs. The $5000-15,0000 bill for a search and rescue comes out of the taxpayers' pocket. Add to that the fact that most people who participate in these sports are from first world countries who often travel to developing countries in order to engage in these activities; a potential search and rescue cost could be devastating to a struggling economy.

And high risk leisure activities are completely voluntary. But, hey we all make choices about how we want to live our lives.

I understand your point crazy_grl, but I think you can hardly compare calling someone skinny minny to calling someone a fat f*ck.

Amen to this!

Sorry for your lost HR.

This is true. I can't remember the show I watched on TLC but they had mentioned that search and rescues from tourists was so high that it was a line item on the budget.

I think it was Hawaii..

It's interesting how the words got changed. How about calling someone fat compared to calling someone a "****ing skinny anorexic toothpick"? The choice of words do change the tone of the message. When you start using curse or derogatory words, it changes the message completely. The original comparision was "skinny minny" to "fat cow". To me, both are on equal level.

Fat cow? I was referring to the OP where it read fat f*ck (hypothetically written of course).

Or a tubby bubby........ the F word would be like skinny F*ck...... totally different than skinny minny.

or words like Curvy vs. slender

fat vs skinny

twiggy vs. tubbish

totally different wording makes a serious difference. IMHO. People call me skinny..... add the F on and you are going to get a fork in your fat head! :lmao:

An Aussie girl has a keen insight as to what the Aussie gents are looking for in a woman.

This may explain some of PA's positions.

I was smoking a cigarette outside once, and there was a few girls near me who openly bitched to me about smoking. WTF, I'm OUTSIDE. I can't get anymore outside that being outside, unless you want to rocket me through the atmosphere and make me smoke on the moon. And yea, I know that it kills people. I've been watching my Dad waste away from terminal lung cancer for almost a year.

I think the original question was, why do these bitches think it's ok to bitch at me about smoking? But it's not ok to bitch at a morbidly obese person ordering 2 value meals at burger king.

It's the same freaking thing.

The objection of course is that the morbidly obese individual isn't hurting anyone else.

Well here's a link to the CDC that states in a table that the total annual cost of obesity in 1998 was $51 BILLION DOLLARS.

http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/economic_consequences.htm

Here's a link that shows the comorbidity of other diseases in association with obesity.

http://www.obesity.org/treatment/cost.shtml

And here's a scholarly article on the incidence of healthcare costs related to obesity, for those who don't mind dry reading.

Cost of obesity on insurers:

Kj, that's inappropriate. If you'd like I can find a post about a fat guy who is attracted to a beautiful woman but because she wont return the feelings he's all bitter.

Thanks B_O.. Great link

there is also another side of this coin..

As an employer who as a benefit pays for 100% of our workers healthcare.. to me that is 15 people who I pay for their healthcare.

We are in the process of hiring a new receptionist to answer our phones and while interviewing prospects and overweight woman ( maybe 260-300 lbs ) interviewed.. She was the perfect prospect and her phone voice was perfect..

She wasn't hired because of her obesity.. The cost of her healthcare would've cost me a bundle to carry her on our group plan..

yes it sucks.. but it is a reality..

No, what I was saying is calling someone skinny minny is hardly a comparison. I've been called that plenty of times and personally I don't take it the same way as if I was called, hmmm say skinny _____ *imput any animal* for the sake of argument. Yeah, even fat cow is insulting. Ok, got one, say skinny heffer.

You guys both got it right, I thought crzygrl was saying that the skinny minny comment was insulting. It is as dggirl said, insulting when you use curse or derrogatory words.

Get me?
