How can you tell [you're attractive]

Recommended Posts

Studies do not back up your claims re red lipstick and men.

I think red lipstick attracts men, it is like the peacock flash for men, it signals "Here I am and I am available."

Men notice the woman with the red lips, walking by, in the cafe, in the club...

BUT men then hate THEIR woman to be wearing red lipstick as that makes her stand out, they then want THEIR woman to wear nude and light pink...

RED is then seen by them as too sexually suggestive to other men, so they hate that.

Scientifically you're correct:

Scientists at the University of Manchester found that red lipstick draws attention to the mouth, most notably from the opposite sex.

In their study, they tracked the eye movements of 50 men who were viewing different images of women and found that men spent longer fixating on the women wearing red lipstick.

They found that they spent 7.3 seconds staring at red lips, 6.7 seconds on those with pink lips, and 2.2 seconds on those who wore no lipstick.

But in Leigh's situation I think her lips look better pale. Then again I'm not a man.

Never believe anything in the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail may not be the best, but the studies they reported were genuine.

I agree, her lips and mouth being downgraded and reduced in emphasis, makes her whole face and her whole look much better, more balanced.

Thanks guys :D

Well my date, on our second date tonight, has just texted me after our date..

" I have cancelled my dates. Out of respect to you. Would like to see how things go "

Still not sure why this hot guy has decided to focus on me :bunny:

Love the new look with the lighter lip color and neutral eyes in one of the pics.

Love the smile too...

The blue eyeshadow is distracting and takes away from your eyes.

If you wanted to go for the pinup look, then do it up right like a model shoot to demonstrate your other 'looks'. That is something that has worked very well for me in OLD.

I have pics with makeup, without makeup, hair up, hair down, dressed up, casual, etc. doing things I enjoy.

What do you think of my later.

I used a lot less make up. Just pink lips ever so slightly. Mascara.

I didn't use eyeliner.

It is my album cover for reference.

Quite nice Leigh, you did well. :)

It's a niche look, like suicide girls, foot fetish people, etc... Covers a tiny slice of the male population. The vast majority of men don't find those looks attractive.

Really with respect but I don't think you necessarily know what the majority of guys like, even thought you may be right!! People I hang out with are mostly artists and other creative types who aren't really into the cookie cutter porn star look. At all. Yes, I do go to the gym or Applebee's or the mall in the burbs (rARELY!! :)) and see most of the girls there look the way you like them to!! And alot of them look pretty, too, not arguing that! But boring, to me, I guess if you are looking to be like the "vast majority" that is the way to go though!

I agree with everybody that Leigh looks prettiest so far in the latest picture with the lighter lips. I would like to see Leigh try something like this just to see how it would work:

04 matte red mouth - Eyeshadow Lipstick

Because she has a great mouth and big pretty eyes, to see how just playing up the lips and playing down the eye makeup would look.

Maybe off topic for Leigh personally, but for all you red lipstick nay-sayers, seriously, these women were considered the most gorgeous of their day and I don't think they would be much more beautiful with "porn star pink" lips, or fake boobs / washboard abs either! Though it's not the current mainstream fashion, plenty of men still respond to it!!! And for some of us it's the best look.

My mum is coming home to visit and will insist on spending a lot of money on me because she feels guilty because she thinks she abandoned me when I was a child (she moved overseas to earn a high income so that she could send me on fancy overseas trips and to the best private schools)

So I will buy a new set of make up and make up brushes. Which I don't use to apply make.up yet I should...

I will also go for my consultation for my nose job. And I will post the computer generated images of my face.

I am trying to get as much feedback as possible before spending the 10 K AUD on a new nose.

The lecturer seemed to love my new and improved look. He also loves a red lip on me so it seems like I need to find a different version of the pinup red lip, like a more... Deep berry sheer shade as opposed to full brown lipstick....

I am trying a different look each few days when mum comes home with all the make up.

Should I go to a consultation with a make up artist??? I would rather save the money and ask you lot. I was able to follow JENS advice after all.

The guy I am dating had a weekends for " big eyes " but he also loves my lips.

How do I make my eyes pop more???

I already do the inner rims with concealer or while eyeliner trick and that works so well in opening up my eyes.

Need more tips in how to make my eyes pop.

You-tube is full of make-up tutorials.

Also some make up brands will do free makeovers in stores.

Beauticians tend not to be very expensive and will do make up lessons or a professional makeover for you

Yes....many of women like to look like the vast majority...remember when it seemed like every woman in the U.S. wanted the Jennifer Aniston hair style??

Then the Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian big booty craze spread like wildfire.

Women more than men follow trends, and they usually all jump on the band wagon, with fear of being left behind if they dont conform.

Yes I know you're right, I just have never been a girl who went along with the mainstream trends and I think all girls should feel fine exploring different looks than just the cookie cutter one that wearylove2 is into. It's not the best look for everybody or even appealing to some!!

Leigh, regarding the nose job-- I've had one, so listen to what I'm gonna say. It was probably money I didn't need to spend, but I don't worry about that because I had/have the extra income. If I was scraping by or saving for years for it tho, that might be a different story. My nose was (before) less prominent than yours, but had a little bump and was a little too long. I did tell the doctor to be conservative, but honestly, I'd say the nose job only slightly improved my looks. I was attractive before my nose job (not beautiful, but attractive), and i feel i'm only very slightly more attractive now. Also, since my nose doesn't bother me anymore, I've found that I just look for other "flaws" to obsess over. My point is.... you think because it's your one 'problem feature' (I felt the same way), that all of your insecurities will evaporate once it's better. That is not the case and almost every person I've spoken to who has had plastic surgery has felt the same way. As cliche as it sounds, confidence really, truly comes from inside.

I'm not telling you not to get it- especially if you can afford it, as it will improve your nose. BUT... you should know it will NOT give you a petite or small nose. I personally asked my surgeon to be conservative (which was the right thing to do as my nose looks very natural), but I did lots of research into this, and those women who wanted a big change, from large to small etc. were always very disappointed... it's just really not possible. So make sure you can accept an IMPROVEMENT on your nose, and understand you won't be able to have a 'small' nose. But honestly, natural will work much better for you, anyway. My little bump is gone and my nose is shorter than it was, but it's still on the longer side.

One other thing to note: the surgery will likely shorten, but widen your nose. Mine is shorter now, but it was very feminine and slim from the front before, and now it's slightly wider front on, because that's what happens when you shave off a too-long tip. That's the one part I don't love about my post-surgery nose. Be sure you're OK with that, too.

What is ironic is that now that I have a more aesthetically pleasing nose, I notice the beauty in imperfect noses, which I never did previously.

Side note: I personally agree with posters that said Ashlee Simpson looks plain and boring with her new nose. I think her surgery was too drastic.

I still think your eyes speak for themselves hon, and so less is more as far as that goes. :)

There was a photo of you up earlier in the week where you were smiling and you seemed to be wearing much less make-up that I thought you looked really gorgeous and natural in. It's gone now but I thought you looked beautiful in that one. It's definitely a "less is more" sometimes with make-up.

Well, I think everyone deep down knows on the scale where they stand if they're being honest with themselves.

According to studies, most people rate themselves much higher than how the rest of society views them.

Average men are practically invisible to women outside of being half-drunk in a club.

So so true.
