Would you rather that a woman says she does not have BF and find out she does or she says she does and then she reveals to you she actually does not have one?

A lie is a lie. Either way, you're approaching a potential relationship on deception.

You seem to look at relationship issues , in general, as black and white... life is not black and white nor are relationships... i bet you don't have a gf, especially posting here on a Sat night...

I'm sure you feel all high and mighty since you have to resort to that.

That said, sometimes, I wear a cocktail ring (diamonds) on my left ring finger when I go out.

I think that's a great idea for you! as you seem like one of those women who has men throwing business cards in her car... if they can actually -catch- your car. ;)

The original question was whether to pursue women who are in relationships. Most of us seem to agree that, if we're looking for a serious relationship, it doesn't pay to chase a woman who already has a boyfriend. But that doesn't mean we can't be friendly -- many of us have found that married/attached women are a great source of "referrals".

There's also some ambiguity in what is a "relationship" or a "boyfriend". If she's been dating a guy for over a year and they live together, then she is obviously taken. But if a woman has been dating a guy for 5 weeks, then it may be worth a little time in getting to know her; she may not have a boyfriend by the end of the month.

Then there's the third category: women who are available, but say "I have a boyfriend" to get rid of you. These women are actually doing you a favor, because they obviously aren't interested in you. It may be a lie and it may be immoral, but we've learned here on LS that women have to deal with some men who are extremely aggressive and won't leave them alone no matter how uninterested the woman is, so I can't blame them for trying to come up with a way to get rid of a guy they aren't interested in. You're obligation to be honest is proportional to how well you know someone. A man approaching a woman is a stranger, and she doesn't owe him anything. It's like when the guy at the coffee shop says "How's it going?" and I say "Fine!", despite the fact that I'm late for a meeting, by sink is clogged, and my left knee hurts so bad I can barely walk. Does that make me a liar? I suppose so, but I really don't care.

I personally do not think it's worth going after a girl that has a boyfriend. However, I have seen it happen where a girl is in a current relationship and she meets a guy, who is interested in her. Instead of still trying to get the girl, the guy hangs around, becomes a almost a friend but not quite. When that girl breaks up with her boyfriend, they get together. However, this does depend on the girl's interest. Usually, if its meant to happen, it will happen.

I do meet girls that are in relationships. However, I usually do not lose contact with them. I do not secretly hope that they break-up with their boyfriends and end up dating me. If I have a good time with them, prior to knowing that they are in a relationship, then I don't mind being "acquaintances". However, I wouldn't keep flirting with them and I'll keep dating other single girls.

Good summary of the "guy not to ever be" in the first paragraph versus the type of guy to be in the second paragraph with the emphasis on the last sentence in the second paragraph.

Actually, no. Quite the opposite. I passed out my business cards and found them all stuck under my car's windshield wiper at the end of the night. I was really upset about it...but then maybe the men did not like the services I offered...<shrug>.

OK, I gotta ask.....how would they know which car was yours? :D

Might have something to do with my name on the plate? not sure.

I'm trying to imagine wandering a parking lot looking for a personalized plate which matches a name on a business card which I have no way of knowing matches a personalized plate in the parking lot. To put back said business card on the windshield.

I am trying.....

The cat's getting restless so I'll have to stop. I will try again soon, definitely prior to getting with any woman who has a boyfriend...

Damn cats...feed 'em and they circle around meowing... :D

What products where you selling? I have not heard of leaving business cards back on the owner's car.

Only idiots get themselves caught up in a love triangle. If I approach a woman and she says "I have a boyfriend", I take her word for it and move on. Men who befriend a woman to get into her underpants when she splits up with boyfriend are the worst kind of male. Recently, I've began getting deeper feelings for a girl who has a boyfriend, so what I've done is cut her off. I've deleted my facebook, and I ignore her text messages, I saw her out on Saturday. I said hello and continued walking, she tried to stop me for a chat, but I said I was really busy and had to go.

There is that phrase on the card that says, "Leave this card with your name and address on it under my windshield wiper (the fuschia Maserati with the "Beware! Texting Asian Driving!" bumpersticker) for a free house call during the month of October!"

At least that was on the card I got.
