Ariadne Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 (I can imagine the really popular guys would get millions of messages )
gypsy_nicky Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 a dating site like that would be like Ebay.
Author shadowplay Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Just from what you have told us I think he would say that you put out easily but you're a bad lay. He might also say something about you being weird. Meh, that's pretty tame. I could handle it. Bear in mind, the whole idea is that negative complaints wouldn't appear until somebody exceeded a certain complaints per date threshold. So a stray bad date here and there isn't going to brand you with a scarlet letter. Also complaints would be moderated, so that personal details like sex or anything really nasty would be left out. And people would have to have been members for an allotted amount of time, filled out their profile to a certain level of completion, to get rating privileges.
Chocolat Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Imagine if we had opinion polls on LS members. Some might get a bit of a reality check in what the majority thinks of them I have had this thought myself. SP - sounds like a fun concept but I suspect it would not be useful in practice. There are too many reasons people might rate each other low/high that would not necessarily sync up with what others want. I suppose the comments might have some merit...
Author shadowplay Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 oh, I just realized OKC already has something similar to this, but it doesn't go as far. If you're a paid member, you can view the average rating different users got (out of 5 stars). No comments, though.

Disillusioned Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 The problem with a rating system on a dating site is that people could potentially sabotage others based on anything. Maybe you don't answer a guys message, so they give you bad rating without ever meeting you. I agree. A much better approach IMO would be for OLDS's with brick-and-mortar offices in big cities to invite us in just to make sure we're real people before they'll post our profile. This would work in LA or NYC, but you'd be out of luck if you lived in Laramie, Wyoming or in a shack on Alaska's north slope, or if you're some weird nomadic person with a hardcore travel fetish. Also, if you fail to respond to at least 3 messages from other members, the site should give you the boot for 30 days because they'll assume you just want to tease. Currently no dating site does either of these AFAIK. Such a system would never be fair. A system like mine wouldn't be fair to poseurs and fakes, that's for sure.
Citizen Erased Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 That's why you're still single. It would never occur to you to cure a creep by bringing him out of the basement. Your theory has some merit. Except I am not single.
