What happened to Mr Right - the author - ha ha - was he a troll?

Presumably the mods know something we don't and decided to delete his thread and apparently all/some of his posts.

 

Sadly I will now be suspicious of all brand new MM posters - oh well; and we get so few.

I wish some of us are not so fast in labeling people as troll...I look at it this way, troll or not-the exchanges and ideas shared are interesting....what good is a forum if there are not provocative questions asked?

Having a healthy dose of suspicion is not the same as labeling. I wondered but wasn't sure, if he was a troll - that decision was possibly made by the mods or maybe they just didn't like his style of posting.

 

Either way I didn't mind his presence at all - as you say interesting and provocative.

I was going to be the first to post and then decided it wasn't worth my time. I was going to say, 'Do you think we're all going to fall for it?'

 

It could very well have been a BS who just wanted general email addy's and locations of an OW they believe to have a story that would fit their own.

 

Even if it was authentic, it's still a bit of a parasitic thing to do. It's like scouting around the death notices of a newspaper and phoning up the grieving widows, widowers and orphans because you're interested in using their stories to give an authentic edge to your portrayal of grief and loss in your new bestseller.

 

If he really was what he claimed - a MM who'd had an A with an OW for 10 years - you'd think he'd have known enough about "her story" from her, rather than needing to leech off the stories of other OWs for his "novel"...

 

(Unless it's one of those novels that involve the copious shedding of body fluids in the writing... I can just picture the "interview": "So, OW, <heavy, rasping breathing> what are you wearing right now?")

 

As tacky as I think it is to kiss and tell, I think making money out of other people's shed tears and body fluids is even tackier!

But I did like Mr Right's opinions. They seemed genuine and very well thought through. If his story did not hold up, his opinions did, which made for the interesting discussion.

I clicked on Mr Right's profile yesterday and came to the thread that Carhill is referring to, so it must be the same Mr Right. There may still be a thread up in his name even if he is banned, as long as that thread has not been deleted.

Did you call him a troll when he was posting? If not, then I was not referring to you as one of those who labeled him as a troll.

IIRC, he had an open polyamorous marriage and his OW died and decided to write a book about such dynamics. He presented himself as a published sci-fi writer and was soliciting experiences for his book. He accepted soliciations of work from another LS'er. He seemed very ignorant of internet-speak in general and how forums work. He stated age in late 30's-40's IIRC.

 

Something didn't add up for me, so I opined troll. Benevolent introduction, seek help, gather sympathy (death of OW), lay the groundwork and then start in with the little jabs. It's quite old-school, at least on the newsgroups.

 

Since the person who solicited him/he solicited is still posting, that can't be the reason for his departure (suspension/banning). There had to have been something else. As compliant as he presented himself to be, any moderation would have been met positively. Right?

I think LS was just trying to protect us. I mean he was asking for telephone contact and face-to-face time with LS posters. If anything happened, could not LS be liable for providing the means for contact?

I found him to be offensive. One of his questions was, "In what ways did you contribute to your H having an affair?"

 

He was so blatantly narcissistic and it was so obvious his ego was being fed, especially by one poster in particular, which shall remain nameless, that I am glad he is gone. Or is he??

I can see why that can be offensive, however, it is a valid question. Many WSs claim they were...er..."pushed" to having an affair....and many BSs accept they have a hand in pushing their spouses to the AP....

I don't know if either of you were referring to me. I know I started this thread but I didn't think I either solicited him or was solicited by him. I suppose any of us who responded to him may have contributed to feeding his ego.

 

I did find him amusing but had no intention of ever communicating with him in private. Even if he was banned (is there any way we could know this?) he can still read as a non member.

It's the turning point. Anything else before such time could have been discussed and dwelt with. COMMUNICATION. But, sadly, the cheater, selfish so and so that they are, WANTS GRATIFICATION. No way in h*ll, does the BS take fault/blame in that!
