Why would he do it again? His wife has incurable cancer.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/080808/n_usa_reuters/usreport_usa_edwards_affair_dc

"Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year-old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her," the network's website said.

Either way, he threw her under the bus publically.

I don't get what you're saying, Which. You're saying just because his wife has incurable cancer that will stop him from cheating again?

Don't be so naive. I think you're a great gal but come on!

And as you said, he's "thrown her under the bus" already. Why should a lil ol thing like cancer stop a narcissist like this?

Nope. Won't matter.

He'll just try to be more discreet next time.

He's scum.

Yes, I know you were referring to Barack's best choice. I'm just saying that for me he was no one's best choice...not even poor loser Barack. (And yes, he will lose...duh!)

We will see who wins come November.;)

Well - Think of it this way, she has incurable cancer....Does anyone know how long she has to live? I don't want to have to write it down, but I think if ya think about it for a second, you'll know where I was going with my comment that he won't cheat on her again...He won't have to, if you get my drift....

 YIKES! I get it now, Which! Duh, I can be so slow!

That's harsh! (But probably accurate, unfortunately.)

OH and yeah, Pyro. We'll see. Forget Obama. No way,Jose.

It's my understanding that Elizabeth's cancer is treatable, although it is also incurable. She may be around for a long time.

And my prediction for Obama is that he will be assassinated if he doesn't pick Hillary to be his running mate. Or even if he does (after he takes office). It's not looking good for him, either way. If he wins, that is. If he loses, he's off the hook. Maybe.

What will his kids think knowing their mom is dying and their dad goes out and does like. Like which said, she probrably does not have much time left. I mean could he at least have waited until she passed away before he went around screwing someone else.

I would hate my father if he cheater on my mother when she was dying. Break her heart at the worst possible moment. And did he honestly think he would not get caught...

 That's sick...But hey, it made me laugh..

OK, well, it is possible he can cheat again.

Why did he confess? I guess I was wrong, I assumed that this came out because of his wife's cancer being incurable, so he felt the need to tell her so he could be forgiven before she passes on. Now I wonder if someone found out and he HAD to tell, or maybe the OW was going to out him. I read that she's pregnant though. Wonder if it's his??

I believe Newt Gingrich did even worse. He was in the heat of his long-term affair while hounding Clinton for his lack of family values. I believe he asked for a divorce from his wife, when she was on her sick bed from cancer treatment. Truly cold...brrrrr....

No, he told (publicly) because he had to. (He told his family back in 2006, I believe. Elizabeth's cancer was in remission then, as John insists on pointing out. That one flamboozles me.) The baby was born in February. He recently met with the OW in a hotel room in California, and visited with her and the baby.

There had been speculation that the unborn baby of the OW was his, and that I think iis why he had to address this. The supposed father is African American, so if Edwards is lying about the baby, it should be easy to figure out, as the mistress was white. I had liked his politics, so am disappointed in him.

Why would politicians any better than any other men... they are 'men' and most men cheat.. so they cheat too.. no biggy... always been always will be.

Most MPs that are away for most of the week.. have mistresses around the capital.. it's a well kept secret. ;) but then they are not stalked by paparazzi as much as the world's leaders..

What time does ABC's "Nightline" come on tonight?? I looked on their website but couldn't find the TV lineup. John Edwards is going to be interviewed... and he will talk about the affair.

The guy is a crud dud. I can understand falling in love with another woman and leaving his wife and kids to be with a new cutie... it happens.

Leaving your wife when she's about to croak after a horrible, prolonged battle with terminal cancer is abysmal behavior. If he was 4% of the man he claims to be in public, blathering about how he's the best man for the job of President he wouldn't even consider pleasuring his penis inside a "other" woman when his faithful wife was in a losing battle for life itself.

The only way he can redeem himself in my eyes is to jump off the roof of a 30 story building. Ado John Edwards.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised and disturbed...and while she had cancer no less. :( Really does call into question his whole public image, because it's so based on family values and sincerity.

Lizzie Dear... that's not the question or the point. The guy is on the brink of not having to cheat... his wife and mother of his children is about to croak off. He ought to have enough decency to remain faithfull, stand by her through her terminal illness... he doesen't have long to wait!

And it's strange because I was never disturbed by Clinton's infedelity. I guess it fit more with the personality he projected.

I agree with you LD..

Remember on thing though.. He is the attorney that took on big tobacco and won finally after all the years of stonewalling in that industry..

He got that good somehow and paid for it with his personality ,if he took down big tobacco he is a hard hitter...

Wow, another one I never thought I'd agree with either but..yeah. You're absolutely right.

But it's too late. He's proven himself to be one of the few men who can't be faithful to their wives. He's scum and anyone could have predicted this from a man like this. He had all the signs.

Shadow, If Hillary's proven anything, it's that she can take care of herself. Before "Monica" Hillary headed up the "Bimbo Eruption Squad" controlling or trying to control the release of information about her husband. I doubt a "random cigar incident" or B.J. here or there didn't take her by suprise. Open marriages work for some people. Infidelity may not be the correct descriptive term for the Clinton's sexual "arraingement".

He IS standing by her, though. He IS a man with strong family values. Is it that much of a stretch to believe that the same man could also be perfectly capable of looking after his own selfish needs? It's the human condition.

What were the other signs? I never really followed him.
