alphamale Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Don't marry this woman, it will most likely become a huge disaster...
Buttaflyy Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Seriously Woggle, are you sure that this woman isn't trying to impress you or is just agreeing with you in your thoughts about women? I surely hope that she doesn't view women as you think she does. It's hard to view a group that you belong to so negatively and not include yourself. I hope she's not just going along with you.

I surely hope that she doesn't view women as you think she does. It's hard to view a group that you belong to so negatively and not include yourself. I hope she's not just going along with you. She doesn't hate all women but she says that if she were a man she would probably just stay single because many women disgust her. She also will tell you she is not a feminist.
lindya Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Don't marry this woman, it will most likely become a huge disaster... I'd be more than happy to counsel them both through the aftermath. $1,000 per day plus travelling expenses. Guaranteed neutrality and confidentiality in a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment. I've never been to New Jersey. Does it rain much?
The slayer Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I know that definition but I also know what the movement stands for. It is not about equality. It views things as a gender conflict between men and women and men are the enemy so there can never be peace or love between men and women according to feminists because to be in love with a man is to love the enemy. That's a pretty crass understanding of an extreme separist view, not a feminist. Kind of like defining a democrat as a communist and a republican as a fascist, although many people will do this , it simply isn't true. I'm not sure that separatists exist anymore, even Andrea Dworkin mellowed with age. Anyhow as I said before, good luck with the fiancee, because I think you are going to need it.
Author Woggle Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 I am not talking about speratists but feminists have declared all out war on men and she is one of the few women I have met who does not seem to have it in for men.
Buttaflyy Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 This is so f'ing funny! In my marriage, I made my ex sign a prenup. Good thing, too, 'cause he forgot he had done so, the dumba**, and he tried to steal half my retirement from me. It's so good to be queen!!! *luvmy2ns & buttaflyy high 5!* Oops, the behavior Woggle hates.
grateful Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 In many ways she is a female misogynist and maybe that is why we fit together. She says that many other women make her ashamed of her gender. Hmmmm... interesting. Have you ever stopped to think about the deeper implications of her statement? That's really an unusual and strong position to be ashamed of one's own gender. How does this affect her life? her relationships with female family members? female colleagues and/or professors? nieces and/or friends' daughters? your own future children (who have a 50/50 chance of being daughters)? I will restate that I think a female misogynist is even more complicated than a male misogynist because identity is intimately connected to one's views on one's own gender.
Author Woggle Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 She has a high ethical code and is digusted by the victim mentality of most women. She actually feels that radical feminists hurt women more than help them.

Ok I get it, stating a case for equality means declaring all out war. Thanks for that insight, that makes it a lot easy to understand American foreign policy! I wouldn't really expect you to understand if you've only ever eaten at Mc Donalds, but watch out cos you are sleeping with the enemy

I wouldn't really expect you to understand if you've only ever eaten at Mc Donalds, but watch out cos you are sleeping with the enemy It is not about equality to feminists. It is about sumpremacy over men. Have you read The Scum Manifesto? That book is what feminism is all about.
The slayer Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 The scum manifesto was a personal rant written by a woman who was abused and somewhat slightly mad. It's often quoted in an attempt to discredit feminism. Read about Valarie Solanas here http://www.womynkind.org/valbio.htm
norajane Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Frankly, I'm pissed off that radical feminists have dirtied the word for the rest of us who believe in feminism. We are tarred with the same brush despite the fact that we do not hate men in any way, but strive for our economic and social equality. All feminists don't hate men. All liberals aren't big governement fiscally irresponsible wusses. All conservatives aren't fundamental Christian intelligent design believers. Stereotypes hurt everyone. The outlying fringe of a group doesn't represent the entire group by any means. Woggle, your fiance is a feminist, but like many women today, doesn't want to call herself that or think of herself that way because feminist has become code for man-bashing b*tches.
The slayer Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Hear hear to norajane Well said as ever, I couldn't be bothered anymore!

I see what you are saying but the nuts have soiled that word forever. A bunch of hate mongers with an axe to grind have stolen that word and I doubt it will ever be redeemed.

Outcast Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 feminist has become code for man-bashing b*tches. Only if you let it be. Just as 'liberal' doesn't mean 'raging Stalinist commie'. You choose your semantics. Skewing to the negative isn't necessary.
Author Woggle Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 I don't think liberal or conservative is a bad thing. The extremists on both sides are starting to sound like a bunch of children shouting at each other. My views are so all over the map I don't think you can place me on either side.
Toni_no12002 Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 im sorry but i dont like the sound of your fiance very much.Im suprised she hasnt been knocked out if shes acts like shes above everyone else all the time.Just because she has money doesnt make her better than everyone else.Money cant get you everything.Love for example.Everyone has good and bad qualities.Hers sounds like shes abit stuck up.Why because she has money does it make her better than everyone else?what about genorosity, kindness, manners etc etc.
alphamale Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 im sorry but i dont like the sound of your fiance very much. me neither...
Author Woggle Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 She is not stuck up because she has money but she is proud of what she has accomplished. Why should she not be?
hyakku Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 To be honest, you need to work on yourself man, no offense but you're pretty ****ed up from some past relationships, that comes across in your posts. Outcast taught me something that you could benefit from, don't generalize groups, even if 99% of them do it, you can strive to find the 1% that defies the group, so really man, relax, and stop bashing on women, they are great, wonderful creatures (albeit a pain in the arse sometimes, just like us guys . I <3 humanity ).
Outcast Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 don't generalize groups, even if 99% of them do it, you can strive to find the 1% that defies the group Here's something else you'll learn in psych, Hyakku. It was announced as part of the results of a recent study. No surprise to anyone who has dealt with a lot of humans over time: some (actually a lot, I seem to recall) of people will believe what they want to believe based on feelings, not on facts. You can try to point out supporting facts until your head explodes (I certainly have) to those kinds of people to no avail. And it's really, really common. Until the study results came out, I had no idea. One of my bigger disappointments in life was realizing that with a lot of people logic does not prevail and cannot persuade many people. It can some, obviously, but apparently they're the minority. I'm not saying that's necessarily the case here but you'll definitely encounter it over time. I have the information about the study someplace and if my headache goes away, I'll try to hunt it up for you. Anyway. The network now returns you to the show already in progress...
Outcast Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 shining star of femininity in a sea of skanks Glub glub glubbbb o oo ooo o o o
The slayer Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I suspect that the OP, who believes that feminists have declared war on men and wish to cut then up (Aforementioned scum manifesto... Society for cutting up men) who chooses to describe his fiancee as a piece of meat (albeit filet mignon rather than a beefburger) might, just might be representing his girlfriend in a slightly different way than she might choose to represent herself!
