spiderowl Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I think it is sometimes worth staying friends and seeing how it goes. When you meet someone for the first time, it can be awkward, both people are on their best behaviour, neither totally relaxed. If you spend time with each other without the pressure of dating, things can change. I think there are some situations where a guy or girl is definitely put 'in the friends zone' after a date and others where the other person wasn't sure and was nervous so didn't know what to do for the best. The latter is the kind of situation that could improve as each get to know each other as people and friends not just potential dates. 1

I told her no to being friends for now cause it would be hard, but I wouldn't be opposed to it down the line. Just not right after dating, that would be too difficult for me. Like in a month would you reckon it's okay to maybe be like "Hey, how bout just meeting up for a bite.. as friends lol?" or wait?
spiderowl Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 It always seems weird to me if a guy totally disappears then gets in touch later. By that time, I have written him off so I am less likely to consider meeting him again. If you think you might like to try friends and see how that goes, then I would suggest maintaining contact soon, like for example, a text asking how she is? Don't expect too much but if she sounds pleased to hear from you and responds with more than 'ok thanks' or ignoring you, then keep up friendly banter. 2

Yeah but considering I just told her I don't think now would be a good time to be friends. When would be a good time? Like how long should I wait in your opinion? I don't want her to think I'm crazy going back and forth between wanting and not wanting to be friends
spiderowl Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I see your problem. Hmm, maybe wait 4 or 5 days after the date then make a joke of it all and send a text. Maybe something like 'Hey, I've got over the ego blow now and think you'd make a cool friend! How are you doing?'

Maybe something like 'Hey, I've got over the ego blow now and think you'd make a cool friend! How are you doing?' I'm assuming you meant "date" as literally like the month date. If you meant date as in going out then that was awhile ago this was done by text. Appreciate the advice, but I may have to wait a little longer than that. I feel like i'd risk looking like an idiot if I sent something like that to her so soon. Maybe 2-3 weeks. I gotta let some time pass haha Thanks though 1
