It is too easy to get sex and affection and so if you leave he will likely get over you and move on to someone else. That being said, I think that men have a hard time making this adjustment sometimes. If you give him an ultimatum, that sounds like a threat. Love and partnership are one thing - a marriage contract between you and the state is an entirely different issue. If your boyfriend is aware that 70 percent of all divorces are initiated by women and that women are more likely to initiate domestic violence, that you are fighting a double whammy uphill battle.
