My BU story: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/breaking-up-reconciliation-coping/breaks-breaking-up/304090-my-breakup-story-tell-me-what-you-think

Sorry lads, this one might just be for the girls, I'm afraid. Although, if there are any lads in the know, feel free to chime in.

I'm just about a year past a very hurtful BU of a 4-year relationship (see above) and, although I felt that I was over him and what he did about 5-6 months post-BU , I would honestly say that I'm probably still healing to an extent from the general hurt (and healing that little bit more every day).

One of my friends has suggested that my recovery after the breakup has been longer because I have an implanon contraceptive implant in my arm, which will be messing with my moods and bringing me down. I have no idea though whether this might be right or whether my recovery time is totally normal. I mean, it's the first time I've had my heart broken and in a really hurtful way after such a long relationship. Also, I don't just randomly burst into tears at the thought of the relationship or anything...that stopped early on after the breakup. Now it's more of a general dull ache whenever I think back on things.

So, ladies, do you ever think that hormone-based contraceptives can make the breakup process worse and affect the way and/or how long it takes you to heal? I've just been thinking about it more lately because I just had a new one put into today and I'm wondering what this means for the next 3 years, haha!
