do all guys know their "number?"

Yeah I do. I have a word document where I have the person's name, year it happened and a short note.

 

Of course I'm hardly a normal guy. I doubt that most guys do this.

I know my number, and all of their names. It's in the mid-teens so it's not a ridiculously long list.

Of course I keep track. I mean its automatic. Not like I would forget something so intimate. Also its not like I'm keeping track of a large number.

I wouldn't. IMO, Oral sex doesn't count as sex. I guess anal might count, if for some reason one only had anal.

I know a guy who has a ridicuosly high number . I mean like 150 ( no joke) and I know him so I know he isn't bull ****ting me . And he has a big book with each one of their names, age, date of sex and race but then again he doesn't know all of their names.

I don't keep the number in my brain.. I do keep a spreadsheet though. I list names, ages, dates...and a few rankings (1 through 5).. But only recent lays or g/f's are on there, like in the past 5 yrs or so... I wouldn't remember from before I was married ...

 

It gets to a point that the number is insignificant.. BUT I certainly would not want a low # at my age... I think for a guy higher miles is better vs a woman where lower mileage is much better..

I would presume that *all* men do not know their number, assuming any significant amount of single life being sexually active. Those men who don't keep track are unlikely to be posting here on LS, as their focus and perspective on interpersonal relationships is likely different from those who post here.

 

Also, IMO, for those who do track, a significant subset of the overall number would be the number and ratio of experiences within significant relationships/marriages.

I think that men know if it's under 20 or so. I used to keep track of the guys I made out with but when it got to about 25, I couldn't be bothered. With sex, it's unlikely that it will ever get that high so of course I know. I also only count intercourse as sex (not oral or anything else)...

A lot of women also tend to "not count" some intercourse partners as well.

For my purposes of number counting, I use the classic definitions of sex that one finds on Wikipedia in the human sexuality area, specifically involving the genitals in the pursuit of sexual pleasure. Looking back upon my own number, using that criteria, there is parity between the number derived from that description and the number specifically related to intercourse. Perhaps that is because I generally pursue sexual intimacy within relationships. Regardless, those criteria remain the same. YMMV.
