Confused100 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I hope this isn't too absurd of a question, but I'm a pretty skinny guy--135-140lbs and around 6 feet. Is being really skinny like this a turnoff for women? Should I find the time to workout and get at least a little bit more bulk?
Don Ho Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Bro, that's thin ... some may like it, many may not. Sounds like you need to hit the gym and start taking some weight gainer.
Enema Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Different people like different things. But one universal is that no one likes insecurity.

Different people like different things. But one universal is that no one likes insecurity. Good point. Maybe I should gain some more weight just to feel more secure about myself.
Confusedalways Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Not that I'm the be all end all of female opinions, but it'd be too skinny for me. Just a personal preference.
bobdole Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 How old are you? I'm 6ft as well. When I graduated high school I was around 145lbs. When I graduated college I was up to about 160lbs and leveled out. So.. age can have something to do with it. I could eat completely horribly - like mcdonalds every day - with no effect. At 29 that doesn't work anymore though

Is being really skinny like this a turnoff for women? Should I find the time to workout and get at least a little bit more bulk? Girls that like skinny guys are a small minority. Most girls like shirtless wonders (guys that are buff and take their shirt off), but few will admit it. To heck with those girls. I've found that the girls who really like slim guys (not the desperate ones that will date anyone) are usually very attractive and rich. Keep asking out girls until you find one. If a girl blows you off because your skinny, move on.
tigressA Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Any girl that blows you off because of your weight, or lack of it, is not worth your time. I happen to adore thin guys, since I'm thin myself. Just carry yourself well, be confident in your natural build, and someone will come along who really appreciates it. If you want to gain weight/muscle, do it for YOURSELF, not just to get girls.
Cee Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I had a serious relationship with a guy who was 5' 7" and 130 pounds. He had a 29" waist. I thought he was incredibly sexy, but I felt a little insecure that I weighed more than him. But other than that, we were two peas in a pod.
GooseChaser Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 What is most important is that you are healthy. You could just be naturally skinny. It doesn't hurt to exercise and build some muscle, though! Muscle can also help a person gain weight!

And I do believe I'm healthy--I try to eat as healthy as possible and I do get exercise (from walking around all day).
Romance Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 wow that sooo thin! my bf is 6' and like 170ish and he is still skinny!
USMCHokie Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Should I find the time to workout and get at least a little bit more bulk? Yes; if not for dating, for your own personal health and well-being...
USMCHokie Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 20 and in college. This is the perfect time to get started with weight training. It will not only improve your physical fitness, but also your mental fitness. You will feel like a better person with more confidence in yourself and your abilities, especially outside the gym.

Star Gazer Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I don't find thin men attractive. But everyone has their preferences!
KraftDinner Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Do you have nice broad shoulders? How you carry yourself will be a lot more important than your weight. Also, how you dress is extremely important to women. A well-dressed guy will be popular with the ladies.

I guess I'll give it a shot, while keeping in mind the other advice. Do you have nice broad shoulders? How you carry yourself will be a lot more important than your weight. Also, how you dress is extremely important to women. A well-dressed guy will be popular with the ladies. Hmm, I don't think I have broad shoulders. However, I do put some thought and effort into how I dress--so I do think I dress nicely.
TaurusTerp Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 6 feet 135 sounds unhealthily thin... That said, I know plenty of girls that dig the tall waifish hipster. So get a little angsty, brush up on your alternative music, and enjoy!

Bogo123 Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Youre definitely going to get more attention. I noticed right away how girls reacted to me after putting on weight. Im 5'10 and was 130 lbs and then got up to 160 lbs. I got flooded with compliments at work and noticed girls checking me out alot more. Definitely hit the gym and at least get toned up.
eerie_reverie Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I'm sorry, but at that height and weight, you're skinny-fat at best - more likely, a walking skeleton. That's a major turnoff, for me.

Your weight is at the lower end but, you will look good if most of it was muscle mass. Your 10lbs away from Brad Pitt, who only weighed 150lbs in fight club at 6ft. Your part of the few that will age gracefully (unless your skinny fat) when most of the people your age will be overweight at 30-40.

It's not like I'd be looking to get really buff or anything... just gain ~10-15 lbs and tone up. I wouldn't want to go all out or anything, just a few times a week. How long would that take? 6 months? 12 months?
shadowplay Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Confused100, case in point. Many thin girls like thin guys, and thin girls happen to be my favorite . I'm a thin girl, but personally I prefer guys who are slim but have muscle. Lean and toned, not bulky. The OP I think is too thin, and should gain some muscle to improve his health and confidence.
