Serenitynow Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 When I take a girl out to dinner for the first time, why do I have to make an impression by taking her to a nice sit down place, compared to burger king ? Now before you are done rolling your eyes, how come 3 months later, I can call her up and say hey lets get a bite to eat, and going to burger king is totally ok at this point? I am the same person no matter where I take her, but 9 out of 10 women would be calling their friend as soon as they got home saying you will not beleive where this guy took me to eat. Why does all this BS facade have to exist to be accpeted for a relationship? Even if I did take her to some fancy dinner place, that has absolutely no reflection on me as to the type of person I am. It doesnt mean I have money either. But the more you follow these cliched rules, the better your chances are at success. .
CLC2008 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 My uncle took me to Burger King when I was...12.
Sivok Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I wouldn't go as far as to say burger king. It isn't uncommon for a first date to be as simple as a coffee break during lunch however.
bobdole Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Its just a front.. Supposedly its to show the female that you can afford to take care of her - I would guess. Today a lot of women and particularly the ones I date don't need a man to take care of them so it is rather pointless. I think people would be a lot more relaxed at burger king too... especially for a first date.

bobdole Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 This thread has nothing to do with first dates When I take a girl out to dinner for the first time kinda confusing there. It can be taken as diner for the first time is the first date
USMCHokie Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 It's not about showing off your money or showing what kind of guy you were...it's about quality of experience. I want a woman to have a good first experience with me. I tend to have better dining experiences at establishments that are a bit more upscale than a Burger King, experiences I'm willing to pay a little more for. So I feel that if I'm having a better time at dinner, then she'd also enjoy it more. However, I don't ever feel the need to take a girl to a high roller restaurant for a first date or non-special occasion.
Author Serenitynow Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 "quality of experiance" should have nothing to do with the surroundings. "quality of experiance" should have everything to do with the person I am with. I am not going to feel any different, or more/less comfortable because of where my a** is sitting .

And spending a little more for a better experience is not just for her...I do it for me as well.
Star Gazer Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I agree that it's about quality of experience. Most women prefer something a little unique and special, something that shows that he put some thought and effort into the date. Why? Because it shows he's really interested in her. Now, taking her someplace unique and special doesn't mean that the place has to be expensive or fancy (you can get out of my favorite restaurant with a bill under $35, including wine and tip), but most women would prefer not to be taken to a chain (fast food or sit down) on a first date IF that date is a dinner date. But really, a first date doesn't even necessarily mean she needs to be taken to dinner. Of the top of my head, some of the best first dates I've been on were something unique/different and fairly inexpensive: to a wine bar followed by dessert at an old-school desert diner; the Getty; playing games and riding the ferris wheel at Santa Monica pier (which is GHETTO); a ferry ride to Alcatraz; and believe it or not, despite my previous suggestion to avoid chain restaurants, a late night trip to Denny's after a fancy schmancy philanthropic celebrity-laden gala (and it was the Denny's part that was fun). There was a level of cleverness and effort put in to those dates. Taking a girl to Chili's or Burger Key shows no effort whatsoever.
Author Serenitynow Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 So once again the girl just gets to sit back and grade the guy as usual. This mindset of "the guy" having to prove himself is a bunch of bull**** And what star gazer just explained proves my point over and over. What part does the woman play in all this ? .
Star Gazer Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 What part does the woman play in all this ? A few dates in, she reciprocates. You know, I'm noticing a pattern... The guys who gripe about this sort of thing are the same guys struggling for dates. Those who understand it never have a difficult time with the ladies. P.S. Will you PLEASE stop putting a period 3 lines before all of your posts??? Sheesh.
bobdole Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 What part does the woman play in all this ? She has the vagina
Gattica Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Chain restaurant is fine with me. I don't want to go fast food because I don't like fast food. I am a coffee shop kind of gal and that is fine with me. I would rather save the upscale places for when I am in a relationship. I find it a bit overwhelming in the beginning of things/dating, going to upscale restaurants and such.
Pfiend101 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I hear ya. Women (in general) like you to flash some cash and make her feel "special". If you took them to burger king they would think you are a joke. Money attracts most women. Lets be honest.
Author Serenitynow Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 Lets be honest. Good luck on getting that on here. .
kiss_andmakeup Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I could not date someone who saw no difference in the "quality of the experience" between a burger king and an actual restaurant. As someone who enjoys experiencing different foods from different cultures and places, I would consider.myself incompatible with a guy who thinks burger king offers a quality experience. FYI, this is coming from a girl who always (without question) offers to pay her half on dates. For me, it has nothing to do with being a girl and wanting yo be coddled. It has to do with preferring my mate to have some culture and class.
CLC2008 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 It's not about "Burger King", it's about the pissy attitude. Instead, why not go to a cute/romantic cafe, get a nice cup of java and a croissant. Problem solved...
Author Serenitynow Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 A few dates in, she reciprocates. Thats a fn joke, I've never had a girl reciprocate. They think giving up sex is their only job. The guys who gripe about this sort of thing are the same guys struggling for dates. Those who understand it never have a difficult time with the ladies. The guys that get the dates are the ones that dont care about anything except getting laid and pounding their chest(which in turn most women are attracted to those guys anyways) The guys that actually read between the lines and see what a croc it all is are the ones stuck on the sidelines because so few women actually step of the playing field to realize theres other options * HINT* When woman whine "why cant I find a good guy that doesnt cheat, get drunk, beat me, cheat on me, etc etc, the guys on the sidelines not playing the games, check there next time instead of on the playing field. .
Mad Max Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I've never been a fan of first dates at a restaurant or a movie. I'd rather go to a carnival or something and actually do something. Is it cheaper than dinner? Yes, but you can get to know a person better in that type of environment.
meerkat stew Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 The best first dates I've had have been walking dates in an interesting area where things are left open. They become "glass of wine and appetizer" dates only if going well and I feel like it. Burger King is a great date, if you go in there just to get a couple of crowns to wear for the rest of the date. A woman looking at you with a Burger King crown on is going to be impressed, I mean hell you're the fricking KING, how could she not be? Same logic applies to grocery stores, malls, outdoor parks, look for the fun as opposed to worrying about impressing. You can have a first date anywhere. IME a woman is never more impressed than when she is laughing, and that costs nothing. EDIT: as far as first dates anywhere, would probably exclude landfills, hospitals and funeral homes (cemeteries can work though).

Most people on this site cant realize that "burger king" is just the "example" for sake of argument. Yet you see how the women keep keying in on it like its the main subject. All they see is BK = no class, cheap, no tact

Mad Max Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Fair enough. So, on your next date, march your butts to the cafe and eat a croissant! If only I was still living in Québec.
Author Serenitynow Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 I could not date someone who saw no difference in the "quality of the experience" between a burger king and an actual restaurant. Thats exactly why I would never date a women with your personality. You have to have a label anywhere you go, something that you wouldnt be ashamed of telling your girlfriends about. Girls that I have dated would be happy to be with me if I told them we were going to hang out in the gutter all day. .
