Is this guy romantic or desperate?

I went out for dinner with a former schoolmate and it was fantastic. Conversation was flowing as we laughed for hours.

Fast forward a few weeks and we go for dinner again. Same thing happens, the chemistry is obvious.

After dinner we went for a long walk and it turns out he led me to his studio. Once inside, he asked me to have a seat as he revealed his latest piece of work: my own portrait! It was beautiful!

We ate berries and drank wine. It was soooo romantic!

Part of me wants to respond with something equally romantic but part of me also thinks this would be kind of desperate... What do you all think about this guy?

OK going to spare you the "are women never happy?" gender baiting :lmao:

If he can whip out a portrait in a few hours, romantic, if he has been working on it for the entire interim since you last saw him, desperate.

If you can tell the canvas has been painted over several times, and there might be other women under there, master pick-up artist.

let him take the lead then when it tapers a bit you can show your romantic side. he sounds like a keeper.

Best wishes!!

Are you f*cking serious?

How did you not just tear off each other's clothes, right there?

Woggle don't hate, just take notes from this guy.

I am not hating. I am just stating it like it is. It doesn't take a psychic to figure out where this is headed.

I was thinking the same thing...!!

I say creepy. The portrait was kind of crossing the line.

I know (sigh). It wasn't his home studio but rather his workplace and there were several people around.

So what's the problem? Or are you just bragging?

Why are you not going over to his place right now? I know my avatar is cool, but don't let it keep you here.

To be honest I was kind of speechless and didn't look all that excited. But inside of me I was shivering!

Our goodbye was a bit lame too (just a hug).

I know the guy really put himself out there with the portrait so I want to make sure I respond properly.

Since he was so romantic, how should I thank him for the portrait?

You need to go over the top, before he starts feeling stupid for how much effort he put into that, and how much he put himself out there, to get "a bit lame" reaction.

I don't know. Anything you can think of this guy will like. If you are feeling it go f*ck the **** out of him right now. Lots of oral.

If that's not how you roll, get him tickets to a play he'd really like, or drive him out to the most scenic, romantic spot you know of for a little evening picnic over red wine or something.

Really.

I just can't see this as desperate instead of awesome.

Don't be retarded, if this chick f*cks it up he's going to have no problem getting another date. If you are bringing chicks back to your studio and giving them portraits, you are not desperate. This cat knows what he likes and he has some moves.

Keep telling yourself that.

So before calling him for another date, what's the most sincere way I could express my gratitude?

Posted

I really agree with Woggle on this, the guy really went overboard.

OP, if you have to repay him, I don't think bedding him would be a solution. If anything make more plans to get together and if you really really think it' time to sleep with him, do it. Just don't sleep with him because you feel pressure to return a favor.

Saiveca your initial reaction was sincere, don't overthink it.

An equally nice hand-made thank you card would be a start. There's something to be said for 'old fashioned'.

I am laughing out loud at Wog's though. He probably nailed it. :D

I used to do all those romantic things and women found them, well, unattractive (putting it kindly). Clue train - I was doing them for the wrong kinds of women ;)

Had he been modestly talented, this could've easily been a disaster. But the portrait was really fantastic and I was touched.

Meh I'm done with this thread. It was basically handled in the first response.

He has a talent for painting, he likes you, so he painted a picture of you. So what? What's the big deal? I dont get it

Thanks for the idea. You sure this wouldn't make me seem too keen?
