Heya!

I am 5'2" and 92 pounds. At one time I used to be over 120 pounds but I just cant seem to pile the weight on. I am managing to eat 3 meals a day (ok not everday but Im getting there) and Im pleased that I went from 87 to 92 but it took a while for that to happen. I have high metabolism which doesn't help things and I have no problems losing weight. I even managed to lose 7 pounds in 24 hours. My mu knew this and when I told her I need to see a doctor she said "I am your doctor I will feed you" - *sigh* might have known that would be her answer lol.

I would like to know if there are other people here who are experiencing this type of problem and what they did about it.

Thanks.

I have a similar metabolism. I can eat almost anything I want, without any repercussions on my weight. The only time I seem to increase in weight is when I eat loads of food ((mind you, I live a relatively sedentary life, so it is much more than I would need by any stretch of the imagination), and when I am not under a lot of stress.

But even then the weight gains have not been spectacular. The best thing would be to see an actual doctor or someone who is specialised in food and weight issues. And to do something about the stress and stressmanagement in your life.

I gained ten pounds last year by eating 5 to 6 times a day. Have a Carnation Breakfast shake in between one of your meals. Drink it with WHOLE milk. If you're like me you can't eat a LOT of food all at once so just throw in some snacks in between meals. I love pistachio nuts. Nuts are fattening. Also, I'd eat a salad loaded with oil and avocados (fattening) in between meals. After dinner, later on before bedtime, I'd have something like ice cream or cookies and milk.

The key is to go from eating three times a day to 5 to 6. You'll see the weight start to come on.

Let me know how this works for you. I need to get back on it myself because I've slipped back to only eating 2 or 3 times a day and I've lost a little bit of the weight that I put on last year. Plus I'm still aiming for another eight to ten pounds.

Oh coco...you are not eating 3 meals a day...one sandwich or a couple of toasts is not a meal. Eat well...and you might need vitamins for your metabolism.

Of course...seeing a doctor ASAP because that's not your only problem...

This sounds like a job for the doctors. Screw your parents. They are obviously not going to help you. Only you can help you and part of that is going to the doctors immediately.

Well you do need to eat more and not just empty calories. Eat more then 3 meals a day. If you can't bring yourself to do that then you do need to seek help.

Make your parents understand what's going on.

Lots of pizza and disgusting fast food always did the trick for me in the past.:o

I am trying my best. At least now I dont make myself sick. About 2 months ago, I barely ate due to stress and I constantly felt unwell. My body was not used to having food and I would feel sick immediately after eating.

That horrible churning feeling in my stomach would refuse to go and it came to a point where I would stick my finger down my throat to force it back up again. I slowly started to eat more so my body would get used to it.

Haven't done that in a while until Thursday night when I had an anxiety attack with very slight chest pains at the same time. Man that was scary and I was crying through it. If the chest pains had been a major one I would have ended up in hospital that night cos the anxiety attack drained me of any energy I had left. I then had dinner and felt sick so I forced myself to throw up. As you can tell I had a great time that night *sobs*

why is your name COCO_MILKSHAKE? are you obsessed with food or the lack of food?

that "feeling" is your stomach digesting the food

Gaining weight is like losing innocence in that you just need to stick more new things in your mouth.

What did you think about what I suggested. Eat five to six times a day. Doesn't have to be whole meals..just SOMETHING.

Can you do that? Can you eat every two and half to three hours. Once you start doing that your body CRAVES food after that time has passed.

Hey Touche, I am trying but its not easy. I do have light snacks like sandwiches and I do eat something when Im hungry (which is not as much as I would like) but Im getting there slowly. I will keep you updated :)

Yes, please keep us updated. And listen, at first don't even worry about how MUCH you're eating...just shoot for eating 6 times a day. This worked really well for me. Eventually you will stretch your stomach and you will find that your appetite will increase.

Try it and se. Oh and another thing...you said you eat when you're hungry. See that's the thing with some of us who have this problem...at first you're going to just have to eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours whether you're hungry or not. It's kind of a pain at first but within 2 weeks it just becomes a habit and you WILL be hungry. I swear this works.

I've had a weight issue (underweight) my whole life and this is the only way I was ever able to put on weight. It REALLY works.

I'll be happy to help you with this in any way I can. As I said, I still have to gain myself but I'm putting off my "diet" until after the first of the year. Too much going on in my life now.

But I'll keep checking your thread if you need support.

Hey ma wee Coco... Do the Carnation Instant Breakfast thing... It has been working for me.

I will send you a copy of my 8000 calorie a day diet with your Christmas prezzie... And don't let the freaks and weirdos get you down Coco-my-Coco, you are still my favorite nibble...

Yes, the Carnation thing really works. I only drank one a day but I figured out that if I did NOTHING differently and only drank that Carnation once a day every day that I'd gain I think it was 1/2 a pound a week. Doesn't sound like much but 2 pounds a month isn't that bad really. In five months you can gain 10 pounds by just doing that.

Anyway, 8000 calories a day? I'd love to see that. I'm not sure how one person can eat that much in a day. I was doing well, when on my diet, to be eating 2500 cals a day!

Can you post that here? Or would you mind PM'ing it to me if you can't post it? I would certainly like to see that. Thanks!

Rapid weight loss and the inability to gain weight even when eating high caloric meals is problematic and could be a symptom of a serious medical condition. Please see a doctor.

Awww ta tango! Cant wait til I get ur pressie :) What is the Carnation Instant Breakfast thingy?

It should be with the breakfast items, like breakfast bars, etc. It comes in a box with individual packets. Just open the packet and pour the powder in your glass and pour a cup of milk in with it. They come in different flavors.

Oh right. Thanks a lot I will check that out and let you know how I get on. Me and you should start this together so we can compare how much weight each of us has gained hee hee.

I am looking for the copy of my diet... it has all been in my head for so long, I have forgotten what it actually said on the paper... lol

And I drink Carnation like 4-5 times a day, with my meals, between my meals, right before bed...

(I am sure that no one else would need my diet, but I will share anyway when i find it... Coco knows, but I had my large intestine removed in September and I have to eat ALOT to even keep a little weight)

And COCO-- I second what Cp said... toast is NOT a meal. ;)

Please excuse my ignorance, but what the bleeping f is carnation??

It's an instant breakfast drink. It's powdered milk I guess with various vitamins, etc. You pour milk into it.

Coco, I'd love to do it with you..we can be "diet buddies" but the thing with me is I'm an ALL or NOTHING kind of gal. So when I start it up again, I start it in earnest. And like I said, I have too much going on in my life now to really do it with any chance of success. I'm starting after the first of the year.

But you go ahead and report back here, ok? And yes, you should see a doctor.

Hehe "diet buddies". I have a lot of crap going on in my life too at the moment but I am determined to get healthy or this will end up with me in hospital if I continue to eat less.

I had to miss my appointment with the health centre that SWA recommended but I am going to call them tomorrow after rummaging my room to find their number as I deleted it from my phone by mistake.

Ok, good for you! And you know, if I felt my health was in danger I would start now and not wait but I have no health issues so I can afford to wait. You can't so you're wise to not put this off.
