Kittiecat Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Where is this geek test you people are taking? If I had to estimate, I'm probably a healthy 50% geek. I love the History Channel, historical biographies on all people royal, Shakespeare and 80's hair bands.

I encourage you to take the muppet test that follows.
Kittiecat Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Ha! Wrong buddy - I'm 20% geek. Apparently geekiness = being wicked smaht. So does this mean there's no such thing as a dumb geek?

Adunaphel Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Acording to the Muppet test I'm Beaker... I don't know much about muppets, is he a dork?
Kittiecat Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Hooray! Maybe there's a chance I can make the cheerleading squad this year!!!
Pyro Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Acording to the Muppet test I'm Beaker... I don't know much about muppets, is he a dork? You need to google beaker from the muppets. Thats all I will say.
Pyro Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Hooray! Maybe there's a chance I can make the cheerleading squad this year!!! Nah, too geeky for that.
Kittiecat Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Nah, too geeky for that. Dammit, why do you have to destroy my dreams at every turn? Maybe I could be a Poison groupie? I'm sure I could make my hair big and crispy and I KNOW I have blue eyeshadow around here somewhere.

Adunaphel Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 You need to google beaker from the muppets. Thats all I will say. Darn. A close relative of South Park Kenny! Not a sex symbol, either. But girls like him.
Author stoopid_guy Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 Hooray! Maybe there's a chance I can make the cheerleading squad this year!!! Remember the Cheri Oteri/Will Ferrel cheerleading skits from SNL? (Cheri Oteri, not especially pretty, but ... Why have I always thought lady comedians were "hot?")

riobikini Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I've skimmed through some of this thread and have a few comments. It's a little uncommon where I live to get slapped with a label of a television-derived ideal and consensus in regards to what it means to be a true "geek". The closest we come to that, here, is a few people from much farther away -perceivably from more "socially sophisticated" cities- who have chosen to move here (for one reason or another) and speak with strangely enunciated accents that, in my opinion, only make them sound a bit more brainy. As far as appearance criteria goes in evaluating whether a person can be considered a geek or not -eyeglasses, braces, acne, button-up shirts with bowties, pocket-protectors and calculators- are no longer necessarily the "things to look for" if you're in search of a true geek. Adult geeks (as well as the oncoming youthful ones) are very much sought-after, nowadays, by companys and industry that pursue the cutting edge of technology and science. Today's geeks are more apt to drive the sleekest sports cars, live in the most posh penthouses, or most luxurious estates, and have a serious amount of "disposable" income -one good reason for some ladies to find geekiness very attractive. For example: Bill Gates is a geek with the world -virtually- (Smile) -on a string. -Rio
alphamale Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Today's geeks are more apt to drive the sleekest sports cars, live in the most posh penthouses, or most luxurious estates, and have a serious amount of "disposable" income A geek in a Ferrari is still a geek...

bab Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 A little shy, just enough to be charming, clean faced, well read, intelligent, and not afraid to show it, curious, goofy sense of humor, nothing fake, great conversationalists, great friends... I've got a phd in pure math, is that geeky enough? I think that I meet everything on this list, except maybe well read. Can I substitute a ridiculous number of sudoku puzzles for well read?? I feel I can be shy to the point of having a slight social anxiety disorder and I don't own any make-up, although I did buy some lip gloss for my wedding. In fact I just moved to the mid-west from down south, and so had to buy my first hair dryer since high school. I still don't own a curling iron or hair spray. I definitely have a goofy sense of humor, but so does my husband, so we have a blast. Or does intelligence automatically keep a lady from being a "hottie" in your mind? I think this is a question worth exploring. Some men write off intelligent women all together regardless of their "hottness" factor. I do think you can be hot and be geeky at the same time. I know that my husband thinks I'm hot, and I'm definitely geeky. I've been in bars with my husband and when he goes to the bathroom I get hit on, unless of course they find out what I do for a living. Then they suddenly act like I have some type of contagious disease. I find that very very strange. By the way, this is an AWESOME post: Nerdy women are the best kept secrets. They are some of the best partners you can find and they usually have a great personality as well. My wife is a nerd and I don't mean that in a bad way either. I think that men sometimes get burned because we look for all the wrong things in a woman. Guys complain about women not wanting nice guys but often times the best women get passed up for some woman that looks like she bought all her body parts. :bunny:
Author stoopid_guy Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 I've got a phd in pure math, is that geeky enough? we are un-worthy... <on my knees and bowing deeply>
This_Too_Shall_Pass Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 A geek in a Ferrari is still a geek... Well said. For a similar version: A donkey in a tuxedo is still a donkey.
This_Too_Shall_Pass Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I've got a phd in pure math, is that geeky enough? Bab is probably the "truest" geek here. In the good way This is what the OP meant by GEEK. NOT someone who's well-read (hell, most of us are) or addicted to Sci-fi. Just an observation - I just noticed how this thread turned into a "me, too!" contest!! All the ladies are trying to prove themselves more geeky than the others....and then basking in the thought that they're a sizzling combo of sexy and geeky I mean, all right already - all of us on LS know you are full of every virtue possible. I appreciate the couple of posters who honestly put their scores in the 20-40 range. I put mine in the 50s, but I know I'm probably in the low 40s in the real sense. Stoopid_guy, I see where you're coming from though, with the geeky ladies being attractive - and 3 cheers for you!!
Author stoopid_guy Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Bab is probably the "truest" geek here. In the good way This is what the OP meant by GEEK. NOT someone who's well-read (hell, most of us are) or addicted to Sci-fi. Actually, the OP was "inspired" by a geeky new lady in our office who was pretty shy at first, but coming out of her shell now. She still doesn't say a lot, but what she says almost always triggers smiles or deep thought. I've always been charmed by geeky ladies and knew there were at least a few here, so just wanted to express admiration. Just an observation - I just noticed how this thread turned into a "me, too!" contest!! All the ladies are trying to prove themselves more geeky than the others....and then basking in the thought that they're a sizzling combo of sexy and geeky That surprised me, though I don't guess it should have. For the record, I'm a geek/red-neck hybrid myself.
