is this a dealbreaker?

Am curious to know how many of you or do you know of people who are married to someone with herpes, in particular HSV2, genital herpes? If so, has it been passed on in the time they've been married?  

I know it's a common infection and also it's not exactly something people will be upfront about as it's personal medical information, so I do think more people will have it than we realise (especially in this day and age). 

Also, would you consider marrying someone who had it or is it definitely a dealbreaker ?  I think in dating, it's understandable it being a deal breaker but if you are marrying someone then perhaps one might have a different approach?

I haven't got anything but was just wondering because I know a close friend who has just been diagnosed.  Generally looking at it online, there is alot of stigma around it, some say it's no big deal, others are very against it and would go nowhere near it....

Also on a related note, for those of you who have herpes, I think in most cases, the symptoms and impact is very mild and minor and in some cases non-existent.  Is this accurate would you say for those who have it or do you know of horror cases where the symptoms have been quite severe?

Is this person acutally your own partner? You have very specific questions, which to me suggests you're a lot closer to the situaiton than you are letting on.

And yes, my best friend has it. She disclosed it early on to her now-husband. He eventually contracted it as well but according to her, neither of them have flare-ups very often. It's just something they deal with in their marriage. They've been married around 10 years now.

Thanks. I think that's what he's worried about. Her case is very mild but there's always a small chance of passing it on...
