I have a dating dilemma. I have history with this guy — we spoke for a few weeks, and we were supposed to go on a date, but he cancelled and we eventually stopped talking. About five months later, we reconnected. He found out I’d moved abroad and asked if we could go on a date, which we eventually did.

The date went well, but afterwards he said he didn’t think long distance was realistic. He told me he’d ideally want me to move back to the UK so we could date properly.

Now I’m temporarily back in the UK and, once again, he’s approached me and wants to see me. The problem is that he’s incredibly inconsistent — he’ll pursue me, then take ages to reply or disappear. I finally asked him directly what he wanted, and he said he wants to date me properly if I move back. But then he agreed to call me, didn’t call, and only apologised the next morning and offered to speak later.

The confusing thing is that I genuinely like him and can’t stop thinking about what could be between us. But I’m exhausted by the mixed signals. If he genuinely wants to date me, should I give him another chance and see where it goes, or is this repeated inconsistency telling me to walk away

I feel like he just reaches out when he is bored and he isn’t showing genuine pursuit for me. Maybe I am looking into it too much. But he did drive down a hour to my area for the date but it’s hard to tell what his genuine intentions are. He also follows lots of girls of social media. He said he is not interested in the other options. I asked to speak to him on the phone and he gave a time frame. It went over that time frame and no call. He apologised the next day and said that he got caught up after the gym and he was free to talk later in the day. But I also saw that he liked other girls pictures on ig during the time he was supposed to call. I don’t know what to do and I leave in a week. Only issue is if we meet, then I move back to my new country he might just disappear again

He's made it clear that he doesn't want a long distance relationship, so if you move to the new country, there will be no relationship

I don't see where your confusion is coming from. He has been clear that dating is only possible if you were to move back.

He doesn't, though. Not unless you're living in same country. He's happy to see you while you are there but isn't entertaining the idea of a relationship with you.

This is not so clear - are you in facting living abroad now? You say "move back" so it is not clear what your situation is. It sounds like you have already moved and are just back in the UK for a visit. Is that right?
