Crushing on my next door Neighbor

I’m so confused.

I think what’s really hard is the fact that I know nothing about this girl, and I freeze up so easily when she’s around. This never happened to be before. I know nothing about this girl, and she easily makes me freeze up. 

One day she came out while I was walking my dog, and she watched me walk him the entire time. She stood out on the balcony, and I waved at her. She waved back. She was wearing a sweater, came out, changed into a nightdress. This left me so perplexed.. it was a cold day out. 

I tend to take things at face value— so I tried not to read too much into it. But I found that interaction so strange. In my mind, I thought maybe she wanted to talk to me. 

The next time I saw her, I asked her what her dog’s name was. I got nervous after she answered and went back inside. 

The most recent, we stared at each other. For like twenty seconds and said nothing. I tried to play it off and pretend I was on the phone, but it was so obvious I wasn’t. I walked away, and when I came back, she went inside.

I guess my biggest worry is creeping her out with the prolonged eye contact. She rarely comes out too, so the window for communication is less. 

Also, I don’t think borrowing sugar or whatever from her will work. Her family likes to stay to themselves. Should I just leave this alone? Did I blow it?

So, I gather you must have been watching her back to know this.

Do you mean your pretended to speaking on your phone, but you were holding eye contact with her the whole time?

If you like this girl, have a normal conversation with her. Why did you walk away?

Nothing will ever happen if you don’t talk to her, ask her out on a date, and get to know her,

My backyard is small, so I’d know if she’s staring at me. She pretty much stood outside the whole time I was there.

We held eye contact, then I looked away and talked on my phone.

She told me the name of her dog, I asked if she was friendly and she pretty much said “she’s pretty anxious”.  I’m so nervous I went back inside.

This does not mean she was specifically staring at you the entire time, I hope you realize. 

In any case, you will need to find the courage to carry on a friendly conversation. Turning around and walking inside without any word when someone answers your question could come across as rude - did you at least say you needed to get going or some such thing?
