do you agree with the way we are punishing our daughter for locking her claustrophobic sister in her room and filming it on her phone ?

we have 3 daughters, one 16, one 18, and another 21, yesterday while i was at work my 16 year old daughter and the 18year old had a row, the younger daughter then decided to lock her in her room, the problem is she suffers from severe claustrophobia , my daughter thought it would be fun to film her on her phone kicking and screaming to be let out. while anyway my daughter then got distracted by a phone call and went out with friends, she completly forget that her sister was still locked in, i returned home from work and found her 6 hours later  still locked in her room, she was in a very distressed state, she had to wee in a flower pot and missed her driving lesson, when i confronted my daughter she said she only meant to lock her in for a hour or so, she has said sorry and shown remorse, i explained to my daughter that what she down was cruel and TOTALLY unacceptable and requires a harsh punishment, told my daughter that she will get a taste of her own medicine and she will spend this coming weekend locked in her room, as a punishment , and so she can have some idea of what her sister had to suffer, she will lose her phone , tv , and pc for the duration of her punishment, as she has exams this year i have told her she will be spending most of her day at her desk doing schoolwork,
<span>on a safety note issue both my husband and i will be in the house at all times to supervise her punishment,my 21 year old daughter who is a teacher ( not at my daughters  school ) will also be supervising as well as setting all schoolwork ,my daughter will also have a baby monitor so she can communicate with us whenever she needs the bathroom etc, so please dont worry about her safety, are we doing the right thing ADVICE PLEASE

Based on your previous posts, it seems you may need help addressing your 16 year old's issues. It's expected that siblings will sometimes row, but to lock her sister in her room and then leave the house speaks to something deeply troubling.

If this post is real, I'm more concerned about the fact that:

  • You are asking strangers on the Internet to review your children's punishments...
  • Your house has doors that can be locked from the outside and can't be opened from the inside. Is that legal where you live? I sure hope not, because it's sure as hell NOT safe.
  • What's going to happen if there's a fire and you can't get to her door with the key? That's absolutely ridiculous.
