Why is it that the act of reciting poetry to women as a means of flirting no longer popular?

I think it went out of style shortly after the Victorian era.  The modern woman is not particularly interested in rhyme, puns, or things of that nature.  I might be intrigued by a sarcastic poem, though.  "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?  Thou art more sweaty and hot tempered...."
