But then why couldn't he pay for some of the larger credit card bills from his checking account - instead he used the trust $ and why didn't he set up a savings account if he really had extra money. At this point, he has about $3,500 in checking and another pay check in a few weeks but then will need to pay rent, etc. I guess what I'm saying is that can he be trusted to not overspend now that he has some $ and save it because he can surely use it ($30K isn't enough for retirement even with social security).

At this point, he has about $3,500 in checking and another pay check in a few weeks but then will need to pay rent, etc. My bf of almost 5 years has had a history of lies, not to hurt anyone because he is a sensitive guy but I think his ego gets in the way and maybe due to denial.
