I think when its all over and i am on my death bed, i would be very happy if i could say, i may not have been happy but at least i didn't **** up my kids by walking away from "the family". many on LS claim you won't screw them up, but I am not convinced. Whether or not a parent walking away screws up the kids may depend GREATLY on how badly the other parent will screw them up without the first parent around to prevent it. (there is another thread on LS on that). i dont think i got screwed by it but i know what its like to grow up being a kid of a single mother and looking around at everyone else who seems to be in a "complete family" with both father and a mother. i know I never want my kids to experience that sort of envy as a child and teen growing up.
