What do you hope to accomplish by getting implants?

What is the end goal?

Feel better about yourself, or attract more men, or?

Think hard about what the goal is, and the likely hood that getting surgery will help you reach that goal.

My sister? Her breasts look great - yet she still struggles with self acceptance.

I'm late to this thread as it sounds like you've already made up your mind. Personally I would recommend not doing it at this stage of your life, because your breasts will still change over time, especially if you have kids.

I understand it's really important to you personally and I think plastic surgery can be worthwhile in some cases when that is the case. But also I'm dumbfounded on why someone so attractive would want to change anything about themselves.

I have a very strong point against any elective surgery: I'll explain to you why and you make your choice.

You don't know the state of your body (i.e. genetic conditions) before you alter it in some way. In my case I was doing something very simple: no surgeries, just taking birth control prescription. Well, turned that I have a mutation that increases the risk of blood clotting, I got clots in my lungs and nearly died. Fun.

Now, imagine someone like me going through elective surgery without knowing about the genetic condition. ANY surgery increases the risk of clotting disorder outbreak, the mutation increases it further, so likely result will be: pulmonary embolism (30% resulting in death). My mutation is not rare: 1 in 50 caucasian people have it. There are many others, equally if not more scary.

Well...... if this risk can be avoided with a simpler solution (VS add two sizes bra does the job if that's your goal) - WTH take the risk? If you're talking about deformity - I'm all for plastic surgery, but to add one two cup sizes... I'd not see that as a measured/justified risk.

Also, how much you weight? If you're on the lowerish end of normal BMI trust me you'd 'grow' in the boob area as you age and get chunkier (haha unless you avoid the latter but 99% of people get chunkier with age, even if keeping exactly the same weight or a bit lower because muscle mas and bone density decrease). Just hit 30 and you'll see the magic of aging...

Thank you so much, guys. No_Go!!! I'm so glad you're ok. The risks are scary. The doc said it is true you do get more breast tissue with age. I thought the reverse. I am 120lb, but I doubt if I gained weight it would all go to my boobs. Though wouldn't that be great ha..My mom is thin and flat chested..always has been (Asian) My dad's side of the family is tall and BIG BOOBS. I got some of the height from that side, but hardly any of the boob. wtf, genetics.

RC, it is something to ponder. I guess if I was completely secure with my body I wouldn't have the thought, but I think I appreciate the aesthetic of larger breasts. I wear a lightly padded pushup, but there is lots of clothing I like to wear and have larger breasts. A backless dress or top, for example. Triangle swimsuit tops. I will be so excited that I could even go without a bra and have large breasts.

I told them I want the surgery ASAP because then I can heal over the winter (thought it doesn't take that long) and be ready to let the girls out in the spring unless I start dating someone before that.

I also wonder how future partners will appreciate my breasts. My ex bf told me that he preferred smaller breasts. I'm worried I will stop attracting guys I like (quiet, kind of modest introverted men) and attract...I don't know...something scary. I worry ppl will view me as superficial or vain... (I'm neither, just an aesthete) It'll be interesting to see, regardless.

You mean your sister still struggles with acceptance over her breasts or her body in general?:(

I really appreciate your guys' help and concern because this is a very serious life decision. I have thought about it so long and I think I need to stop thinking and just do. The amount I think about stuff has never been beneficial to me

I personally don't see the appeal of big boobs. I have natural E sups and they are a pain. I need to buy tops 2 sizes bigger to have them fit. I can't zip up my leather jackets :| I even considered the reduction.

But..men love them  All exes tell me it's their favorite body part on me.

I actually wear minimizer bras now that I have lost interested in dating.

Here's the thing, a gentleman, a man who cares about you, and especially a man who loves you, will love what you have.

Mine are TINY - and I have never had any say anything bad about them (unless you count high school :lmao: ).

They say how they love little breasts, they tell me how sexy my little tits are. They say they prefer the little perky sensitive ones to big breasts.

Are those all lies? Maybe!! But they respect me enough to never make me feel bad about my body.

When you love and respect yourself, and only invite men in your life that respect and care for you... I think many of these "issues" never exist.

I wear backless things etc - I don't know why you can't, except for being insecure and worrying what other people think about what God gave you.

I hope you don't take offense Cookie - but your posts do not convey a sense that you are a confident and secure woman, but rather one with insecurities, difficulties being decisive, and a lack of confidence.

Just know surgery probably won't make a dent on any of those issues.... But I guess you could wear different bikini tops.

Yeah health is unpredictable (well, to some extent)... On the bright side, breast augmentation is a minor surgery, not like breast reduction. You should be fine.

I don't know if it is just weight or also hormonal, but breast size from what I've seen do increase with age.

Regarding weight gain/loss - hard to say where it will go. Depends on your body shape. If you're lucky to be hourglass - it will go to your boobs and butt. Otherwise...not so much. In any case, 120 lbs on 5'6 is about perfect. If you can keep it there I don't think anyone will mind your B cups.

Have you measured in VS? I always get crazy sizing there. Like I was super convinced I'm a 34C (75C European) - they offered me 32DD??? I'm wondering if they're seeing something I'm not seeing or vanity sizing exists in bras :lmao:?

Yup. Big boobs look better in a dress, little perky ones look better naked.

Aaand the simple solution: 1) stay thin and have small perky boobs

2) wear push up bras underneath dresses that need the volume. Done :)

I think of my push up bras as my "strap on titties" :lmao:

Works for me.... Strap on don't hurt when I run or get in the way when I sleep.

Thank you!!!pmed

Your PM function isn't set up.

Random bits of info:

Saline under muscle should give you close to the natural look silicone would. It all comes down to over vs under muscle. Saline is filled after they're in, so they work well in cases where there's a size difference between right and left. I'd probably stick with silicone tho, if I were doing it again.

I would say I was an A, and am a C now. I went with 375 mL. A bottle of beer is 355 mL, so think about pouring a beer into a baggie - that's what I've got. My guy sent me to a high end bra shop, where they deal with reconstructions. They put me in a couple of different sizes just to see what they'd look like. I didn't want to go TOO big, and I think I did okay. I've never thought 'wish I'd gone bigger'.

I see people are saying they need to be maintained or replaced. Sure, there's always the possibility of a rupture. But, like I said, 16 years and no problems here. It would be wise to have a chunk of money set aside, in case. I'll be dipping into retirement money if I ever have to modify mine. I remember removing a few implants from little old ladies who probably got them in the 60's. The were like hockey pucks, really, really bad. Things have come a long way since then.

I did read an article the other day about a potential link between textured implants and cancer. The texture is to help the implant adhere to the chest wall. Mine are smooth, and that's how I'd go if I were doing it again.

I do have a couple of enlarged lymph nodes on my right side. I'm pretty sure it's a reaction to the implants. I've had a mammo and ultrasound, and they haven't changed in years.

In any case, take your time and do your homework. As someone else said, under muscle is really painful. I was actually shocked. I've had ten surgeries, and it was by far the worst. After the first 24 hours, it calmed down nicely.

Good luck!

Thank you all! I decided to go with it. I got a great doctor he's done a couple friends (whose boobies I have felt lol) and they are beautiful so I'm confident in his skill. He said I'm a good candidate and I told him I want natural and proportional I'm flirting with 400cc or 425cc under muscle but they always say between the two go larger? I put down my downpayment and I'm having them done on the 13th of oct!!!! Btw Midwest did you get my pm

Make sure you try those on and walk around in them. Put on clothing that you would normally wear. That really sounds big to me, if you're starting at a B cup. I'd say stay at 400 or less.

I'm 125# and started with a A cup, and am REALLY glad I didn't go more than 375 mL.

I used to let patients feel mine if they were coming in for a job with my surgeon. Coworkers too. 'They're so soft!'. Like I said, no one knows they aren't real until I tell them, or someone catches a feel of the rim on the outer edge where I don't have much meat.

Hahah yea VS sizing is weird. I think runs small. I am a B there. One of my fave part of this experience will be getting new bras. I always had boob envy when trying lingerie

Sorry. I always mess with my settings at the most inopportune times. Thank you for the information!!!! That is extremely helpful. I have been researching more and getting boobie greed and was going to ask the dr if we can bump up to 450 at pre op consult next week, but your post gives me pause. I want them big but not too big. I am also 5'6" tall. They had me try on the actual implants in a sports bra to give an idea of sizing. But they were all smooshed down.

Do you know what 'profile' you got? Also, are you familiar with the whole "drop and fluff" thing? Apparently, they are placed in higher on chest and as the muscle relaxes they begin to drop and sag, taking on a more natural shape. They will look smaller at first but this process makes them larger over time. Was that your experience?

The enlarged lymphs are probably not too usual yea... I had no idea the textured was more likely to lead to cancer. Pretty sure mine will be smooth. Science has definitely come along way and it's much safer and longer lasting than it used to be.

It's so great to hear they feel nice. I actually just woke up from a nightmare I had the surgery and they were hard and not sticking to my chest.

Oh..and how's your back? I think I worry about that the most. Also since I do try to be active

That is very interesting information, I'm pretty good at numbers and measures so I can't imagine to be that far off, but this: 'different sizing methods and some bras are made to fit via one method, and other bras fit using the other method. ' got me thinking. This will mean measuring every time trying different brand, making online shopping a nightmare, ugh...

Most women wear the wrong size bra and none of the people who size them for a living know WTF they are doing. Also, there are different sizing methods and some bras are made to fit via one method, and other bras fit using the other method.

No, I am not some creeper that hangs out in ladies lingerie section. My ex wife used to manage an underwear store so....I actually kinda did hang out in the lingerie section a lot. Darn.

Big boobs are an asset for cocktail waitresses and other professions where you want to visually stimulate a man. They are also for women who want male attention. In some Las Vegas casinos they used to, and maybe still do, pay for their cocktail waitress's boob jobs. It draws more customers and the girls get bigger tips/tits. :)

The last study I read showed that a woman with 34C breasts we taken more seriously than girls with other sizes. So, in business 34C is ideal. Large enough for some make attention but not too large so that you are not viewed as smart as you really are.

On the other hand, a woman wrote an article. She had 36D breasts and got a breast reduction. She wrote that when she went down in size, life was harder for her. She was used to men doing things for her all the time. When she went small she did not get the favors, smiles, dates, freebies, etc., that she used to get, so she got an augmentation again and life was better.

Having been with girls with natural breasts as small as 32A to 38EE, and girls with boob jobs from 34-36 C&D, I prefer a 32A natural boob to an augmented one. The fake boobs were always hard and had scars under them. They were nice to look at but not so nice to play with. I often heart not to be too rough with them or they will break. All too often the girls with the larger fake boobs would think that all they needed to bring to bed was their body and did very little work during sex.

Cookies, if by profile, you mean teardrop shaped, etc., I guess mine were pretty simple. Round, I think they're called. Smooth round.

Yes, they do sit up really high at first. Basically approaching your collarbone (only slightly exaggerated). A lot of that is swelling. I don't recall exactly how long it took for them to settle completely. But yea, later they take on a normal boob shape and less like three loaves of bread stuffed into one baking pan.

Go back and do the try on in a proper bra. It's not fair to boobies to smush them in a sports bra! They should really send you to a high end shop that does this sort of thing.

As for size, you're treading that fine line between staying perky and being able to run around braless, and needing to contain them for support. My back is mess, but it's not because of them. The weight is really nothing compared to women who have to have a reduction, which is, btw, one of more bloody, nasty surgeries I've ever had to assist on. Yuck, so sad. If you want an idea what it will be like, fill baggies with 450cc water and stuff a bra.

I wouldn't normally tell someone this, but if money is no object, it would be better to go small and increase later, if you really feel it's necessary.

I like 400 for you, don't ask me why. Good luck, keep us posted!

I have also seen shape of boobs post reduction and they frankly look terrible. It's so much easier to go bigger. Lucky girls with small boobs.

True, but most having it done aren't doing so for cosmetic reasons.

Those who have a relatively normal body habitus but are just overly endowed in top are more likely to have an aesthetically pleasing outcome from a reduction.

Those who are just grossly overweight will not. Most insurance companies will demand a person lose weight before they will authorize the procedure, in the hopes that will solve the problem.

The two people I know who had it done were too relieved with the results to worry about what they looked like.

I happen to love boobs, but not the grossly faked ones, boob jobs as they are called. Some are plain terrible, or the surgery has gone wrong in some way, not the woman's fault.

Do whatever you want, cookies, your breast, your body. Be aware of potential issues in the long run.

And I'd like to add that it's unfair we guys cannot get surgery for 9 inches willies.

That. Is. All.

So?

I decided that maybe I will not get a boob job!!! I'm too scared to do something surgically invasive to alter my body. I am such a coward! I told the doctor hold up and postponed it (I have 11 months to change my mind with my deposit) Thanks for all your help, Midwest. Everybody. Will update if/when things change :)

You aren't a coward! Deciding to take that kind of risk for an elective surgery is a big deal.

I for one am very glad you put this off. You have to KNOW that this is right for you - will full confidence and look hard as to why you want it.

Given that you have another current thread called "No self-confidence," I think it's a wise move that you are electing not to have this surgery right now.

I'm not against these procedures, but when the person getting them has self-image issues, I think it becomes a slippery slope. A new rack isn't going to fix deeply rooted self-esteem issues, and thus, further procedures then become enticing because then "maybe new/better ___ will make me feel good about myself."
