Fair Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 When he thinks you have a cute personality... He laughs at the things you say, because he thinks they're cute... or he thinks your quirks are cute or endearing... I know it's a compliment, but it makes one feel sort of like a child he wants to pat on the head or a kitten he'd like to scratch behind the ears. Not like someone he desires. You instantly wonder if he takes you seriously at all...or if you're just "cute." and nothing more to him. The word always makes me feel like my desirability as a woman is being undermined in some way... or overlooked. Because it has a child like connection to it, I suppose. Or do men only think women are cute if they're attracted to them in some way...?? Are they turned on by "cute?" I hope you all get what I mean. Curious.
CautiouslyOptimistic Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 I'm a woman, but I do not take offense to this. I can be quite engaging and flirtatious so if that comes off as cute when I want it to, I'm A-OK with that description . 5
umirano Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I think when a woman says it (in a non-sarcastc manner) "cute" is a good thing, even in a romantic context. When I as a guy call a girl "cute" it's also a good thing, but I probably don't see her as GF material.
Bastile Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 "Cute" is endearing. It's being attracted to a person's quirks. Sexy and cute is girlfriend material. 7
Imported Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 You're Maryanne, not Ginger. I always liked Maryanne better. 1
basil67 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 My husband always uses the term 'cute' to describe a girl he finds attractive.
Art_Critic Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 You're Maryanne, not Ginger. I always liked Maryanne better. Good way to put it, I always wanted to bang Maryanne..
bachdude Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Cute can be synonymous with "good looking". But in my mind it had a certain type of good looking woman in view. There are women who are, "Hot": stunningly good looking with a certain raw sexuality "Cute": Very good looking but with a girlish charm or a touch of sweet innocence about them "Say nothing, only drool like a caveman types": A combination of the above (i.e. Marilyn Monroe) 1
thefooloftheyear Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Yeah...the MaryAnne/Ginger reference pretty much says it... But I do see the where there can be a confusion of sorts..I think most women would prefer to be referred to as gorgeous or sexy rather than cute...Just like most guys would probably rather be called rugged or sophisticated rather than comical or funny.. TFY 1
Imported Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 (edited) Hey. I like the brunette better. Thank God for spell check And I don't know if the blonde is supposed to be sexy. But the brunette is cute. Hey, I think you have a lot to learn OP. edit: I mean like with the blonde...sure, I will take a handjob and most likely that goes further. With the brunet .....I like her style! Her looks are quirky and totally cute. I am going to do as good as I can. And I would absolutely reject the blonde to get with the brunet Edited August 2, 2017 by Imported
mikeylo Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Cute": Very good looking but with a girlish charm or a touch of sweet innocence about them True. Some women might be hot but once they open their mouth or once you get to know their personality , you realize that there is nothing more to them. Some are very mature for their age ! The ones who are older but still have a hint of cuteness is cute in itself lol !
d0nnivain Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I'm a woman. I have never heard a man use the word cute as anything but a compliment. It's not a demeaning insult, that you are a kitten to be patted on the head. Women analyze language more then most men do as a general proposition. Stop over analyzing. Take it as a positive & move forward. 5
JuneL Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I had a similar thread a few months back... http://www.loveshack.org/forums/general/general-relationship-discussion/618363-cute-but-not-so-young-women

That cute smile, those cute glasses, it's terrible the naughty things I want to do to someone so cute". Laugage always depends on who says it, cute can definitely mean desired and attractive, but I do agree it has a innocent connotation to it. 1
Robratory Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 When he thinks you have a cute personality... You instantly wonder if he takes you seriously at all...or if you're just "cute." and nothing more to him. What are we supposed to say? Oooh, hot mamma, vroom, vroom, vroom? We say "cute" precisely because it's the least sexually suggestive word. But there are exceptions. If you've been dating for a while and you're sexually exclusive, "cute" should be replaced by "damn, you're hot." And a guy should never ever compliment a woman's personality unless it's right after complimenting her physical form. "You're beautiful and so easy to talk to" is fine. "You, uh... have a great personality" is not fine. You might as well tell the girl she's ugly. The word always makes me feel like my desirability as a woman is being . . . overlooked. It's almost tragic that most women don't understand their sexual power. The idea that a (straight) man would overlook a woman's desirability is just absurd. Sadly, it's one many women carry with them. I've asked girlfriends, "You don't walk around, fully aware 24/7, that your ass makes men want to bite their knuckles as you walk past?" And the answer is always, "No." The women walk by, full of anxiety over whether their outfits match or if their makeup is on right. Do men give a damn about stuff like that? Oh, hell, no! Be more confident, women, and fake it till you make it.

Miss Spider Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 its one of those words that people use in so many different ways that it's devoid of meaning. Like 'spiritual'.
