Do a lot of women miss read confidence for arrogance or a guy being egotistical?

I know many guys that are egotistical/arrogant womanizers. Some of them are also married… But they all constantly flirt with women and strut around like they are single and on the prowl. I just don't understand how these guys are such magnets as far as flirting or cheating on their wives? From my point of view it's blatantly obvious the way they talk about themselves, the way they interact with other people, and everything about them. But women that talk to them act like these guys are so great.

Why do so many women talk to guys like this? Are they really not able to see through the BS…or is it part of the game for them?

There are fine lines but everybody's tolerance levels are different

There have been people here on LS that are horrified by how much flirting is allowed in my marriage. It doesn't make DH & I blink. In contrast I read some posts & roll my eyes.

OMG
my
SO
made eye contact with the waitress who served us dinner. When she called him hon & he smiled I got up threw my drink at him & stormed out. He's calling me all the time now what should I do?

As long as the people involved know where their boundaries are, what the rest of think doesn't matter so much. For example, I could not have a threesome or open marriage but others do. To each their own.

IMO, it's not so much misreading as supplication, which is also seen in males supplicating to dominant males. In order for there to be dominant people, there needs to be submissive people for them to dominate. Otherwise, anarchy would rule the day.

BTW, although the title referred to one gender, I see it more as gender neutral and have plenty of examples with MW's to draw upon in that vein. In that case, it's males supplicating to their superior sexual power and dominant personality. Did a bit of that myself for awhile.

For some other viewpoints, here's a past thread on the subject:

There is a difference between just talking to guys like this and falling for their wayward charms.

Some women indulge these men in conversation because it's entertaining. I know I have. It doesn't necessarily mean they're going to drop their panties whenever Don Juan smiles at them. :p

These guys worked out the level of validation these women need.

Every woman without self-esteem fails to see the difference between confidence and arrogance, which is a lot.
