I've just checked in the mirror yesterday after my deadlifts session and my abs show a little. Only the outline though and with certain lighting, mainly because my core muscles are strong from boxing and regular training. I would be horrified if I had a pack of any kind

Yea same here. The only ab training I do is deadlifting and (front)squatting. Abs are getting pretty huge, but not really aesthetic. I think they train inner ab mucles more than outer, if there is such an distinction between the muscle. Not sure actually. Read: I am getting a weightlifters gut.

Haha I worry about that! I think it's ok but it does cross my mind from time to time.

tons of men who are ripped with abs but have no muscle mass. all look like high school teens. I laugh out loud when I pass a a guy with little muscle mass thats showing off with no shirt. try hit training for 3 years, thatll turn heads.

I prefer my bodybuilder look. mass is where its at and sets you apart. pulls way more pssy than a HS boy band body where the woman is bigger than him. thats not masculine.

rocketman, it's a choice for me. I was bigger and lean, now I am smaller and lean. I like not being what I consider overly muscled.

I like mobility, speed and endurance better than a little or even a bit more strength. I can run a marathon at a good clip the whole way or I can run a mile much faster. I can pull my body+ up a rope using just arms and no momentum. Yes, I have more power/thrust than I have weight. Some of the guys that can really move a lot of plates, can move a lot plates...but they can't even pull themselves up a rope without really trying if at all. This is a non-effort for me, till I do it reapeatedly.

I swim like a shark, it's ****ing amazing and I can do that for a very long time. Plenty of guys in the gym may outlift me, but pound of pound I am very competitive. And then when it comes to running, the majority of those dudes are not even close, nevermind swimming :)

I have found that dudes are the ones liking other dudes for how big they are. I am not really worried about impressing other dudes with my muscle size or lifting ability.

I stay 180lbs (5'11") and below by design.

everyone has different wants out of their body. me, I want to stand out from a crowd of guys who are your stats. dont be offended. I simply love looking like a bodybuilder.

a professional tennis player or a professional skier all look regular but youd only know what they did when you saw them playing. what I love about bodybuilding is that everyone knows what you do. when youre big, everyone looks. EVERYONE. some appreciate and respect the hard work you put into looking good, some are intimidated, some disgusted, some admire..but all look.

why do I care to impress a guy? im into women. and with women, thats all I need to stand out and catch them. once I get their attention I use my mouth to lock them in. with attracting women, its first physical. no one will give a fat guy a chance. women are just as shallow as men. every woman wants to date a good looking guy. easy peasey for me. I dont have to try hard to catch a woman.

I had an ex whose abs were just about visible. This is the wrong forum section to mention this, but let's just say if my head was just below waist level when she reached a certain level of excitement, the view of seeing them tense up at that moment was pretty damn hot.

Abs are made in the kitchen

not in the gym

True. Doesn't matter how muscular a male is if he is carrying any fat...just looks pudgy.

Most males have decent abs whether they work them or not. My guy is fit and has a has a hard, flat stomach with a hint of muscles(I hate that 6 pack look). Most woman like a fit male...that is not the same as a comical muscular one.

If a guy can run 2 miles, do 50 push ups and fit into his 30 inch jeans...then he is a chick magnet. Anything beyond that and...'meh'...

nonsense..I guess chipendale performers are successful for no reason..

all I can say is the bigger I get, the more options I have.

mostly those women who are overweight/out of shape say that because they are intimidated by guys who look better than them. their insecurity and self esteem is low and they dont want their man looking so good that women gawk when they go out.

good looking people attract one another. its as simple as that.

Sorry, I didn't know you were gay and know what women like more in a man than what a woman does. Unlike yourself, I never have any desire to look at Chippendale dancers.

Never heard any complaints...so it's not like it's a deal breaker. It shouldn't really matter if you have a personality. Women are less visual than men. It can't hurt your game, all I am saying :)

If I say I get women, then im gay. If I look like a chipendale build then im gay. haha yea nice try. im a hetero.

btw, there was a post in the sex forums noting how women prefer men who are gay when looking at porn because how "hot they look" and its known that gay men in porn religiously work out and are very muscular. so what you say is nonsense. but then again, youre a woman. I cant take what a woman says seriously.

so if a woman is overweight with low self esteem who cant get hot looking guys thats the excuse I would expect. "women want an average looking guy who can do push ups because we cant pull guys that are muscular tall handsome that the vast majority of women desire and the are the type in pinup posters" nice.

how noble of you to vote yourself to be womens rep on what women want around the world.

you can say what you want, but how they look. the womens eyes say it all ;)

and saying women are less visual is a crock-a-sheyt. women are just as shallow as men. every woman wants to date a good looking guy. and if you say no its not true then you confirmed the above. because I wouldnt date an average looking women. why would I downgrade.

In my experience, it doesn't really draw that much attention or desire...it's a nice to have, but I've never gotten much attention because of it...

But then again, my other characteristics may negate any type of abdominal structure I have...

My, you like to look at male strippers ...and know what it is like to think like a woman more than we women do. Perhaps you are indeed a woman trapped in a man's body. Nothing to be ashamed about if you want to come out of the closet.

Most women I know don't care all that much for perfect abs and don't like the look of strippers. There is a girl who is organising her hen do that involves a trip to see some male strippers and that's one reason I declined to go. Not my thing the slightest and I have been to several strip bars.

None of the women are particularly looking forward to that part and believe me they aren't shy. That kind of thing is embarrassing at best, cheesy and just not attractive.

I see well cut guys in the gym all the time and they look like a joke to me posing in front of the mirror. When I see a man with a strong, balanced physique I have a lot of respect for him because I know how hard he had to work for that. Having ripped arms and a chest though.... all that prancing around. No thanks, not interested the slightest.

Rocket has his opinions on this thread. Does not make him gay. Why the personal attacks?

I can't speak for Eau Claire but I'd imagine what got her hackles up is rocket's assumption that women don't like huge muscular guys because those women are jealous and fat. Rather than the actual truth which is that overtly muscular is rather unattractive.

there's something to that. Im 6' 210lbs. thats a decent size. not large. but some dont like the huge bodybuilder types. those chipendale guys are not pro bodybuilder sizes though. they are muscular and big but not scary huge.

Abs are NOT necessarily made in the kitchen....

While any muscle group shows better with less subcutaneous fat, abdominals are a muscle group, like anything else..Along with good genes, they WILL respond to hard work...I have pretty deep and well developed abs...theyll show pretty well, even at bf levels of 15+%...If I am around 10%(which technically isnt ripped), they will show, even under a close fitted T shirt...

Want well developed abs? Forget the endless situps and focus on core strength movements..You will get more developed abs than from crunches and situps..

I never work on abs directly at all. all development comes from heavy exercises. squats deadlifts, pulldowns, tricep cable press down.. when youre doing extremely heavy weights, youre abs have no choice but to get strong and help in stabilizing. this is from years of heavy work. diet though plays a role in getting the muscle tight up against the skin.

Thats why I said not necessarily....

There are plenty of skinny guys that have little or no ab development...While others that do can actually "show" abs, despite having a bit more of subcutaneous fat layer...

Possibly but usually external fat is the best indicator of what's hidden. Another reason to keep trim...assisted in many operations. One of the most common being abdominal hernia repair. On a fit male might take 45 minutes...twice that or more for someone with a lot of fat. Less complications and much better recovery time for the fit male.

I think lack of trunk musculature would have a lot more of an adverse affect on the likelihood of hernia than a small layer of subcutaneous fat on an otherwise fit and muscular man....
