I haven't had a boat load of experience with guys but just wondering does EVERYONE get afraid of a new potential relationship? Fear of change? Of the unknown? Because I've only had one boyfriend more than a decade ago i was just wondering weather or not you've had loads of significant others or one, is dating someone new always scary or is it going to be scarier if someone hasn't had a boyfriend in a long, long time?

I'm dating someone for the first time in 11 years. Wondering if it's normal to flip out from time to time

I dont understand being scared.

Being excited about meeting someone new sounds normal.

Being scared, sounds like youre just afraid of life in general

Not at all, it's normal to be nervous. Doesn't mean you aren't excited and doesn't mean you aren't out living life because you are going. Just have to manage that feeling. I think it will go away a bit once you've dated a bit more.

I can be shy meeting new people as well.

yes it is normal and if you didnt flip out and were apthetic abotu it it means that it isn't a relationship time for you

thats not a time if you dont fear and feel just apathy, because fear is where faith is held paramount and up front when you have doubt you have to break through with faith which i always do , i go in no parachute and i have faith, god has a trampoline for me to land on, for god so loved the world attitude..god will guide and sustain me in failure and success he gave his son so i might have happiness eternally so if he has someone in mind for me ill trust that ill meet and know him soon, better yet that guy will seek me out,... if the guy leaves or isnt interested in being with me,my heart and soul all i have goes into the effort so it is going to surely hurt em to have an ending of a hoped for investment for me to find complete happiness.......they have all of me....needed to be this way for me to succeed there are no half measures for successful unions its all or nothing with black and white no grey or colors thereof.......apathy is nothing.i have a desire for a guy who can parachute with faith not material things like a parachute thats cheating and who isnt apathetic about me but fears just as much as i do about losing out on them and then that guy i am with...just jumps anyway we jump together .....the rest is for gods knowledge not mine ill find out when it happens.......deb

Well I sure hope it's normal because I've started seeing someone and I like him and he seems super into me and it is freaking me out.

You should read the book Women Who Run with the Wolves. There is a chapter that talks about Skeleton Woman. It describes how we feel when we fall in love. Reading it makes me feel validated.

Well OP,

It could have a lot to do with the lack of that boatload of experience.

Dating for the first time in 11 years is bound to make someone feel a little tentative.

Because it is change, and sort of an unknown, too.

(You can forget a lot in 11 years!) :D

But try not to put so much pressure on yourself.....go easy.

Whatever the reason you've been away from it for so long - your date should be someone capable of being sensitive to and understanding of that.

I think if I'd gone 11 years......I'd be inclined to feel a little flipped out by it too (and I'm Mr Smoothy)

Thanks guys

It's a little embarrasing being a single woman for so long. He was surprised, only because he thinks I'm beautiful & he's surprised I'm not married yet. I guess to most people lack of experience is very unattractive & not cute @ 30. But he surprisingly thinks it is & finds it different & refreshing. Surprisingly, that makes me feel a little more embarrassed. I'm pretty hard on myself but flipping out is a sign of embarking into the unknown & I'm quite surprised that he's more relaxed about than I am.

And whoever said a bit of flipping out is normal I agree with. For anyone at any level.

All it is is something new and different. That's why it's scary. I think if we alm had great skills at relationships we either would do them.perfectly or have no need for theom at all.
