FlameHairedGirl Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 This is probably more of a rant than a question, but could class as both I guess... What do you guys think of extended family? Aunts, uncles, cousins, Grandparents etc. I know it's probably awful of me to think of any of them in this way but I can't help be but irritated by most of them. My mum's side are only proud of you if you pop a kid out - I'm 22 with no kids "must be barren" "you're weird" "depriving your poor boyfriend of children". If you study or have a job, they think you're a mug. They constantly bitch, judge every little thing, moan and try find loop holes in getting out of working for their money. You can't have a family get together because a fight ALWAAYS happens. They have to know everything about everyone, say the most vile things then forget 2 minutes later and if you dare keep a bit of your life private, they turn into petty school kids. Mum's not like them, she had me and my sisters young but she made a career for herself and moved away to a better area. Cue the bashing she got because she wasn't close enough for them to mither. Dad's side is more tolarable, but look down their nose a bit and seem to think they're perfect enough to judge others - all hard working people but forget they're human too. It's hard to just ignore them as they're all within my area so it's not like I can avoid them and I (unfortunately) work with two on my mother's side. I don't want to feel this bitter and hating on anyone, but being related to utter c**k ends sometimes really gets you down.
nofeelings22 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Sounds like most extended families. The secret to fixing it is to stop giving a sh$t. ha ha Funny, but true. Just go on with your life, don't listen to them and live well on your own terms.
