JL123 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Curious how many of you were/are involved with a MM that is in the military?
Author JL123 Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 I would also be interested in knowing about pilots? My mom thinks all pilots cheat....I realize that is a stereotype, but in my case, my MM was a pilot in the military, so thought I'd ask here and see if there were any similarities out there.

Hehehehe... Mine was none of these, but told me he always dreamt of being a pilot since he was little and still feels that this would be the best career for him. So... I guess in a way I can relate..
d0nnivain Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Although it's no longer vigorously prosecuted, I believe under the UCMJ any extra marital relationship is punishable by courtmartial. Many people in the airline industry have a bad rep -- all those 1960s stereotypes of jet setting lifestyle.

Many people in the airline industry have a bad rep -- all those 1960s stereotypes of jet setting lifestyle. I can tell you that if it's brought to his chain of command's attention...they WILL deal with it via UCMJ. They're REQUIRED to do so. It may not be a court martial...that's extremely rare. But it's very likely to be pursued under Article 15/Captain's Mast/non-judicial punishment actions. I would also point out that pilots tend to be egotistical, self-focused individuals...which are key attributes to folks who are likely to cheat on their spouse, in my experience. Cheating is a pretty common problem in the military in general, and in certain jobs/professions especially. Those that require that kind of self focus, long hours/days/weeks/months away from home (the term is "geographical bachelor"), and in the company of the opposite sex. It happens. I'm not sure what knowing this will help you with...but this has been my experience.
HtotheN Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 WH is active duty military. So was one of his many "girlfriends." I could have gotten him into trouble but then I wouldn't be getting half his pension in the divorce. Adultery is quite prevalent in the military, though.
whatatangledweb Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 My WH is a pilot. Guess who the OW was. Unfortunately it does happen quite a bit with pilots. He is not an egotistical, self-focused individual though.
