This guy was in a relationship for 8-9 months and really loved his gf. They ended a few months ago over her wanting to respect their parent's wishes on them taking a break...he got mad about her fam getting so involved so she ended it taking her family's side. Idk it was just drama stuff. I think he still really loves her.

We hung out and he flirted a lot with me and he would joke saying maybe he had a crush on me. He was worried it'd get back to the ex that we were hanging out cause he didn't want her to get the wrong idea. I was offended a bit but he said it's cause she would cause drama making him look bad by saying he got over so fast (she's a trouble maker). He said he liked hanging with me but is careful with girls? He then told me on the way home he didn't want to date for a year and enjoying being single talking to people. So idk how many other girls he's acting this way to....He took me out to grab a quick bite last week and we had a lot of fun! He was a flirty gentleman. :p We texted everyday for like a week or more and now we're not even talking? Our convos started to slow out a bit and he's the type of a guy that either texts long texts or one words. I didn't want to respond to the short ones so we haven't talked until Saturday night.

I figured if he really wants to talk to me, he'd make some kind of effort. Should I just forget about him? I don't want to be somebody's flirt rebound and end up falling for him when he has no intention of catching me (cheesy analogy ik lol).

He's also the type to like EVERYBODY'S stuff on facebook but he never does it to me...haha I know that's stupid to say but idk if he's worried people will get the wrong idea or what. He met my family and introduced me to his mom. He then added my bro on fb cause he wanted to know if they liked him? Idk he seemed to like me but I guess he was just a quick phase? :/ We stopped out of no where. He'd always text me first but I kinda got tired of carrying the convos. He last text was "lol" or something so I didn't respond. If he cared he'd make effort right? Cause he has no problem of talking to all these people online but me..Haha advice?

He's staying in touch and he's met your family. So he is/was interested in you to at least some degree. If I had to guess, I'd say he's somewhat interested but still looking for some particular women in his head, his ideal.

I will tell you this. The best way to handle any amount of ambivalence, no matter what the relationship status or even if there is one or not is to keep busy with friends and dating or hanging out with guys. Some men like a moving target and view anyone sort of holding out for them as probably not worth it or that they'll always be there, so what's the hurry. Go be social and don't always be there for him.

We never really got that deep when we talked/texted but he'd say he liked what he saw in me and stuff and always said sweet things...I knew he didn't want to date right now but he went from being so into to me to nothing in like a day. Ah. Who knows maybe he's doin this to other girls too (even tho he's not the player type). Lol whatever I'm glad I didn't get so involved with him then. He's 22 btw and I'm 19. Should I just not talk to him at all until he does? haha

Its pretty sad that you OP dont know what you want for yourself.

- its up to him to chose.

- So he's choosing.

So you can figure out what you want, or you can stay on the sidelines and just keep waiting, for him, or any other guy that you might like for that matter

Well I just want advice on if I should keep waiting or move on. I wouldn't mind trying things with him but I just don't know if I'd be wasting my time.

I mean as you said and he's clearly made obvious is that he is still in love with his ex. Now that's something you are choosing to get into. He is being honest and telling you how it is so his behavior shouldn't come as a shock. If I were you I would let it go just because you seem like the kind of person that would fall hard and that's not ideal in this situation. He obviously is interested in you but no matter what you will be number two. I suggest giving him space and let him come to you or give him an ultimatum. Either way go out date other guys and let what happens happen. I hope this helped! I have a question entitled "oh man" on the dating forum would love some help.

Thank you! It doesn't really surprise me but I at least thought we'd stay in contact for a little longer or something. It happened out of the blue. :p
