iDrumKing Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I'm in school for radiology right now and nobody knows that that isn't what I really want to do in life. My dream is to become one of the best DJ's in the world. Look I know that sounds far fetched but I'm 21 one and I've already many of those "I wish I did that..." moments. My fear from sharing my dream with family and friends stems from the fact that I think they would look down upon it. They would tell me to be "realistic." Trust me, I'm not out of touch with reality, but this is something that I WANT to do and achieve in life. What should I do?
Lernaean_Hydra Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I take it this means you want to drop out of school in order to purse that dream? I mean, if you're willing to be honest with yourself and face the reality of the fact that your dream may never pan out then go for it. Your friends and family may very well look down on you for it but you're an adult now. It's your decision to make. 1

I just feel like if expressed to my parents, they would want radiology as Plan A and my music goals and Plan B, when I would rather want it the other way around. Yes, I am an adult and you're right, I can make my own decisions. I just wish that there was at least 1 person who supports my goals.
dichotomy Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 What ...better then Armin Van Buuren? I don't think so.... Can't you try this on the side - I mean try evenings and weekends? No better time than student to add an extra thing to your learning. I would advise you (as a dad with a daughter that like to perform) get the degree you can eat with - and purse the other dream as well. Do it on the side, till you get your degree and then after graduating give it a full go...and if it does not work, you can dust off your radiology degree and get a nice paying job. 2
