irc333 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 This was kind of a change of pace or may be considered an irony. lol. A woman I met at Meetup, said she has a boyfriend and said he wanted to be at the Meetup event tonight, she kind of laughed as to the reason why he wanted to attend on a weeknight. And I said, "Oh okay, is he in the area?" and she goes, "No, he's in <Name of city appx an hour and a half away". I go, "Wow, that's a good distance away" and she says, "Well, I met him online". I had to kind of chuckle, with our complaints of these online dating and how Meetup is likely the better option to get to know someone in a more organic fashion. at these "in-person" events, but I'm wondering how she'll be able to hold up with the temptation of having face time with other single men and may be likely to trade-up? Who knows, but I don't think I could have an LDR like that when a bunch of nice single ladies are within mins from me. lol
LordVader Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 So she has a BF and u 2 have an internet relationship ?????? Well I would say try and meet girls in real life, even if that means walking the streets just saying hi to girls until u can do more. As lonely as I am, a LDR would just never seem real to me, and I'm a very intellectual type and love fiction
FitChick Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I'm wondering how she'll be able to hold up with the temptation of having face time with other single men and may be likely to trade-up? What makes you think she'd be trading up at a meetup event?
MidwestUSA Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Not everyone views meet ups as a meat market. In fact, aren't they just meant to get people of a similar interest together? If she has a BF, she's not a meet up looking for a new one (at least I wouldn't think so!)
Frank2thepoint Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hmm, am I the only one that attends meetups for indulging my hobbies? Who knows, but I don't think I could have an LDR like that when a bunch of nice single ladies are within mins from me. lol It's called being faithful/true to the person. Some people can do it, others can't. If I met a woman from far away, and she was willing to invest into the LDR, I have no problem with staying faithful. You have a choice. 2
