I screwed up... now what?

I was irritated with my roommates and mentioned to my GF that I thought it was curious that they always hang out with a couple female friends (and aren't in a relationship with them) since I know a lot of guys are attracted to their female friends. She got really mad at me for saying that and felt that I was insulting her male friends and was being degrading to women.

I apologized and said that that wasn't what I meant at all. After talking for a while, she said she believed me and didn't think she was mad at me anymore. She did say that before, she thought she was seeing a new side to me and thought I was like other guys. She also said that she was thinking about staying at home this week. I've always treated her really well, so it hurt that she was equating me with that. Even though she said she isn't mad anymore, she still seems distant.

What else can I do to repair things and show her I'm sorry? Should I just act as I normally do and hope it gets better with time?

I read this over and over and I don't understand why your gf think this is offensive.

I think her viewpoint is that it makes it seem like guys are only interested in women for sex.

I don't really understand either. Maybe she's just sensitive.

However the apology she has been given is all she deserves. She's getting upset over a small misunderstanding. It happens

Think time is all she needs? She said everything was okay and she believed me, but she's clearly still a bit irritated at me...

I genuinely think she took it the wrong way, and is being over sensitive about the situation. You've said sorry what more does she want.

She will snap out of it when she realises she's being silly.

And when a woman says "it's fine"

It's not usually fine. However you didn't do anything wrong

I'm still trying to figure out how you screwed up. By voicing an opinion?

If you've apologized, that's plenty. If she can;t let it go, I'd say she's the issue, not what you said.
