 Hell, you could really wear and own that outfit...to the prom, your important business meeting, your bachelor party... even a wedding or two, maybe even yours. :lmao:

G

I'm not sure if I have the legs for it.

It depends how hairy they are and how knobbly your knees are. I think we need pictures - assuming nobody is about to eat their dinner.....

Pretty damn knobbly, I'd say. But I added you as a contact just so you could take a gander.

Well some bits of you are definitely hairier than others ;)

Gorgeous family by the way

True, but it is just so upsetting... I have this hot girlfriend and I will have to go alone. Not cool.

How informal are we talking here? It's hard to go by the info posted. Does she have anything in her wardrobe you'd approve of for this? If so I can't see why she'd refuse. My gf makes "suggestions" (i.e tells me) what to wear once in a while based on the occassion. Not a big deal at all.

Then again do you regularly try to control what she wears? Too many variables and not enough info to say here.

It's called expressing yourself

if you can't accept your gf wearing that to a formal dinner than obvs you don't even like her!!

OP, for real...this is issue what, #10 w/ this chick in a month? The writing is STILL ON THE WALL, glad you are starting to be able to read it :) So what happened when you finally drew a boundary and told her she can't come if she is going to dress inappropriately?

I mean some of these responses are fking ridiculous. She should wear hello kitty to a formal dinner and he's crazy for not wanting that?! lol okay. I guess I should wear stripper heels and a mini skirt to a funeral, I mean whats wrong with that? Gimme a break, there is a time and a place for your hello kitty t-shirts. A formal dinner is not that place, I can't believe ANYone defended this girl!

An even better reason to leave her home.

So she has agreed to wear more formal clothes. We had a talk last night and eventually she came around.

I think a lot of posters here who are critical of her don't understand something...

She isn't generally a brat. I'm just venting about issues we have on here, but if you net her and didn't know her you would think she's Miss Personality and extremely sweet.

I know that we have issues but I really am hopeful that we can work them out.

The truth is I don't want to lose her. I was completely bluffing with some of the stuff I said last night, if she had have said she's going in her own style and that's it, I would have had no idea what to say next.

And despite what a lot if you think... it isn't just because she's hot.

Thanks for the post. It really gives me hope :)

So when did you change, and is there anything I can do to change her or speed up such a change?

Your gf will continue to step all over you until you take a stand. You aren't being unreasonable by asking her to tone down for 1 night to meet your family. She's selfish, immature and you've been letting her get away with acting like a brat since the start of your relationship. It'll only get worse from here. If she really cared about you, she would compromise for one night. It means a lot to you for her to meet your family in a respectful and presentable way so if should mean a lot to her.

I used to be like your gf at 20. I was defiant, uncompromising and incredibly selfish. If the guy allowed, I would walk all over him and act like a princess. If I didn't get what I wanted I would either cut the guy off or pout until he came around. I was a b*tch.. sweet when things were good but bratty when I didn't and I always had to get my way.

Now, I look back at SMH and laugh at my behavior. I feel bad for the way I treated those boys.

I understand that this is your first relationship and you feel lucky because your girl is "out of your league." However, you know, I know and we all know that her behavior will only get worse as time goes on. She knows she has you wrapped around her pinky finger and is going to try and push you as much as you allow her.

Take a stand. Your gf is only thinking about herself and not one bit about you. Don't take her to the dinner. Your brothers can see a pic of her if you want to show them how "hot" she is..

Well, here's what the guys did in The Stepford Wives to make their ladies change: they killed them and then made robots who looked exactly like them, but the husbands liked their personalities better because they were robots. Maybe you could try something like that.

The only one you can change is you.

If you really learn that at your young age - life will be easier for you.

You can't change her.

The only behaviour you can change is your own. The only solution I see is for you to stop caring so much about losing her. This will allow you to set boundaries. She might leave when you stand up for yourself, but that means she's not worth it anyway. A woman who cares about you won't leave when you command respect.

I'm glad she finally came around. I am also glad that we are only seeing a small part of her -- the bad stuff -- but that she has good points.

Good luck.

A lot of posters including myself are critical of her because all you do is come on here and complain about her. You tell us the messed up things she does and then expect us all to think the sun shines out of her arse.

She is a brat, you have no balls - we've all said or thought this and you are not going to change her. Like one of the other posters said - it wasn't until she grew up until she began respecting men and not acting like a prissy brat. That will take a very very long time if it happens at all. Is she hot enough to put up with her crap for that long?

I was thinking about this yesterday after I had posted. Op I do wonder why you post on this forum. People have given you solid unbiased advice time after time and you completely ignore it time after time.

It's such a shame that you are blind to your entire situation. Everyone deserves to be treated better than she treats you.

One day you will realise this, and oneday you'll find a woman who is actually of good quality. I look forward to that day.

Time, Medium. I grew up! It took time for me to change and also meeting great guys who wouldn't put up with the selfishness! The only thing you can do is to make sure you're watching out for yourself and don't be so afraid of losing her. You're just beginning to explore the dating world..you've got so much more to enjoy out there!

I'm glad you both came to an agreement on the dinner attire.

So I thought an update would be appropriate. The dinner went brilliantly. Better than I could have ever imagined. Everyone loved her. She behaved very well.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the thread.
