acrosstheuniverse Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 You know she's always like that, she likes to say no for the sake of no... Ignore her until the last minute, prepare yourself for the occasion and as she sees that you don't ask her to dress up or anything You will see her ready in no time.... but when you make a big deal of this and tell her you have to dress like this you must etc you will trigger her stubbornness button. I dunno, I don't think you should have to try and alter your behaviour to avoid triggering a stubbornness button with an adult female who is supposed to be your partner... This would irritate me too, OP. It's one night and like it or not, appearances are important. Would she go to a job interview wearing head to toe Hello Kitty? Probably not. She should treat this occasion as seriously as she treats that, purely because it is important to you. But we know that you won't listen to any advice because you are happy you finally got a hot girl, so you'll let her take you for a ride and do whatever she wants. I honestly don't know why you bother to post for advice, it seems like you're just making stuff up about the relationship now for entertainment because every few days is an entirely new problem and you seem to just completely ignore every single post (of which there are many!) that suggests your relationship is 100% disastrous. But, to each their own I guess... 5
Arieswoman Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 ML, I think there is a bigger issue here than the dress code. She is refusing to do something to please you just for one night - and disrespecting your family into the bargain - that's the problem. In any relationship there needs to be give and take. She's screaming me, me, me, and thinks she can get away with it because she's "hot". She pushing against your boundaries to see what you do. If you let her get away with it she'll do it again and again. If she doesn't like the rules she doesn't go. You might want to have a look at what else you let her get away with because you think she's so "hot" ....... 1
Author Medium.Lumo Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 I have let her get away with a lot, but this is different. I have sent her a message now telling her that she either needs to dress properly or can't come with. I haven't gotten a reply yet but there is "read" status on the message. For the record I don't ignore all advice... There is some I have taken from various posters. But like it or not I can't just treat her any way I want, yes, because she's hot and I may not find another girl like her in a hurry I dunno, I don't think you should have to try and alter your behaviour to avoid triggering a stubbornness button with an adult female who is supposed to be your partner... Arieswoman Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 ML, You said But like it or not I can't just treat her any way I want, yes, because she's hot and I may not find another girl like her in a hurry No-one is suggesting you treat her "anyway you like". You treat her with respect and expect her to reciprocate. Dropping your standards and moving your boundaries because I may not find another girl like her in a hurry is a slippery slope. I was single for over 10 years before I met my second husband, basically because I wasn't going to compromise my integrity to keep guys who weren't on the same page as me. It was well worth the wait. 1
Author Medium.Lumo Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 Wow. 10 years is a long time. Congrats for being so patient. I don't think I could handle that. And what if it's her that has dropped her standards to be with me? Just a thought... ML, You said No-one is suggesting you treat her "anyway you like". guest572 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I am curious, how are the clothes childish? Is it just too casual or something? I am picturing green and purple striped tights with a purple tutu, sparkly top and a wand? 1
Haydn Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 OP, What are you wearing? Hopefully something that does not clash with `Hello Kitty` 13
Author Medium.Lumo Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 OP, What are you wearing? Hopefully something that does not clash with `Hello Kitty` For guys the requirements are black shoes and collared shirts. They don't really have specific requirements for women but I don't think bright colours are going to be the norm there, I've never seen anyone dressed like that at this establishment.

We used to let in hookers and pimps . 1
Haydn Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 A compromise is needed. How about a racy little black number? And `Hello Kitty` knickers? martaldn Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 OP - is she the one who thrown a tantrum when you refused to have sex with her because you wanted to watch Walking Dead right? she is kind of handful! you cant win with her! however, I would suggest to let her dress as she wants. she will end up to embarrass herself when she will realize how unappropriated she is dressed in the exact time she will step into the restaurant and everybody will look at her in a funny way and NOT because they like her sense of style! 2

Author Medium.Lumo Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 LOL. Great idea Yes btw... she's the same one. My first and only girlfriend. I guess it's not going as well as I would have hoped. tdmnp Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Maybe you two aren't a good match. I vote for going without her. I think this is the best call. 1

gaius Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Threaten to take that other girl instead. One of my ex's knew I liked older women so if she was being bratty I would always threaten to substitute her mom, and surprisingly enough it worked most of the time. 2

Author Medium.Lumo Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 aww I am sure you will have a great night! good luck and let us know how it goes! ( I am curious now ) Well... I messaged her with a demand that she dresses appropriately or she can't come with and she's read it but not replied. I'm kind of nervous now. 1

saltyfishhead666 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Probably ran off to masturbate to you since you finally stood up for yourself. LMFAO!!!!!! Seriously op - if your girl has no respect for your family, and cannot dress suitably for the occasion she needs to grow up and learn to have respect for her boyfriend. Saying that if I were a bloke and some chick turned up dolled up in hello kitty - I would be running off. She's clearly not 10 - hello kitty is extremely childlike in my opinion. 3
Author Medium.Lumo Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 I don't mind the clothes in general, and yes she still is a 9+... But my oldest brother is a very successful man and he bought the apartment my girlfriend and I are living in and it just rubs me the wrong way that she would turn up so casually to meet him and my other brother and cousins etc. LMFAO!!!!!! Haydn Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 My daughter is a fan of `Hello Kitty`, My wallet is not. OP, couldn`t she wear something colourful but unassuming? How posh is this `gaff?` `Is it a lodge` of some kinds? Secret handshakes? If someone orders the lobster does everyone stop talking? But seriously she needs to compromise here. Good luck. 2
