Love her, acknowledge her, validate her feelings. the ex coming to you and saying, "I was wrong, you were right, you are worth me changing, blah blah blah" is just you wanting to be validated. My birthday coincides closely with my first date with my ex (also April 9th) so has been a joint celebration for 4 years. Hard to ignore it when it's over. But we are more than the passage of time those anniversaries mark. We have more things to do and more milestones to pass. This time next year it will just be your birthday - nothing more, and that's enough reason to celebrate! 1
