warrenorabbits Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I have a friend at work that is, shall we say, careless when it comes to my feelings. Now on two separate occasions -- including her 30th birthday party -- she's left me out due to carelessness and not apologized. Instead, she has shifted the blame to me. She claims to be my friend and is mostly nice but sometimes she absolutely droves me up a wall. And now today she told one of our coworkers, within my earshot, that she would "forward him the e-mail" ... an e-mail which i haven't gotten and which sounded like an invitation. Now that I write it, it seems silly that I'm upset over this as the e-mail could have been about a lot of things. But there was a little "je ne sais quoi" in her tone that put the thought into my head that I was being, once again, excluded from an event of hers. In any case, it opened a lot of old sores and right now I want to tell her to hit the road and get out of my life. I'm not actually going to do that, by the way. I just need a place to vent. I've just started to open up and make friends with people and she was one of the first. And now I feel like I'm not gettinf anything back for all the emotion I've invested in her. Advice? Thoughts?
Keenly Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 This person clearly is not your friend. They have made it apparent time and time again. 1
d0nnivain Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I would assume she's doing this on purpose because she does not want your company. I would avoid her except for necessary work interactions.
Author warrenorabbits Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 The strange thing is that she seems to enjoy my company most of the time. Now that I've had a little cool-off period I'm more inclined to think I just read the worst into what I heard. In any case, she's not obligated to invite me to anything. BUT if I knew that she had excluded me, it would make me feel that we weren't really friends. That would sadden me, especially since I consider myself as close to her.
