Amethyst84 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Do you think there is a time frame to being in love when you're dating someone exclusively? Is it possible that it just will take time? Are the feelings always super strong or can they sometimes be gentler? Backstory Edited March 6, 2014 by a LoveShack.org Moderator Added backstory link
Zippy2000 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 There is no such thing as a time frame. People can fall either straigh away (based on physical attraction) or over a longer period of time. Timing is also important. I ve heard no one say I fell in love in 6 months, or anything like that.
melell Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I can only speak for myself, but.. Personally my feelings start of gentler. The only time they have been super strong at first has been when I was younger, or when I found the person to tick a lot of boxes and was excited by the idea of them, or lots of sexual chemistry. I wouldn't describe those feelings, even though they were intense, as being in love. The quickest I have felt like I was in love was 2 months into the relationship, and that was after spending 60 days straight in each others constant company. I have had a relationship where at the start I didn't feel much, and later on still didn't feel much. And one where at the start I didn't feel much, but later on felt incredibly in love. And one where at first I felt very intensely, but later on felt nothing. I really do think it is important to wait and see

Author Amethyst84 Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 Is it wrong to wait and see, so long as they know where you're at. Like do you think that after a certain period its unlikely to happen?
Stay_Gold Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I am so glad the OP posted this because its directly in line with a question thats bugging me and i was going to post a new thread for it. A lot of people are saying No time frame and that it depends. My question is: when do you proclaim "I love you" and who should do it first...male or female...???

You may not like this answer but, once again it depends on the person and the reason for saying it..... IMO, each person needs to decide for themselves when they are comfortable, secure in their belief, and feel free to express the words without expectations. Who goes first seems irrelevant to me

Are the feelings always super strong or can they sometimes be gentler? No time frame. My Dad started talking marriage to my Mum on the third date. Proof positive that with the right person, you can be a clingy bugger and still get the girl.

I think it is prudent to take your time in a developing relationship. Be reassured of your true feelings. Seems like you are looking for a textbook answer but unfortunately everyone approaches this in their own way..... Love happens when it happens
Gaeta Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Depends what your I love you means. To me when I say I love you it means you are more important to me than my own life is. I would throw myself in font of a bus for you or give you a kidney. I take my I love you very seriously so it takes time. I don't throw them left and right. I have a friend who says I love you after a couple of dates. To her I love you means she is feeling butterflies. Her I love you don't mean much and she said it many times and then broke up the following month with the guy.
