Canucklehead Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Have been dating my widowed GF that has a 7 and 11yr olds. Father gone for over 6 years now. She is all for me providing a "male-figure" in the family unit and realizes that it will take some adjustment time for everyone to feel comfortable and adjust. I have already spent considerable time with the kids on my own and I think they do respect me as much as we all love having fun together. I was wondering what others here on LS would think about how to proceed in adjusting into the family dynamic if you were in my shoes.....
TXGuy Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 This probably isn't the type of input you wanted, but since you are Canadian you have to understand that you can be held responsible for child support if you are deemed to have been some type of father figure to a child of a woman you are dating. You don't even have to have married the woman. Super scary stuff. I'd never date a single mom in Canada. Not that you should make the same decision, but you might want to research this aspect of the law. 1
