ja123
In dating, I think you can pretty much have the girl if you satisfy 2 of her desires: 1- to make her feel beautiful 2- to make her feel protected. That's how I see it, anyhow, and I'm a woman. Feel free to disagree. Yet, my question is: "What do men want?" So ... anyone, care to enlighten me? I'd love to hear the men's perspective on this.
Onethirtyeight
I can only say what I want. I want a nice girl that likes me and I find physically attractive. By nice I mean the stereotypical nice girl that doesn't sleep around, cares about other people, is fun to be around, and acts like a lady.
MrNate 2.0
That's easy. We want it all. We want the world.

MsKenji
Most guys nowadays want a balanced girl. You don't need to be the best cook. Just be able to cook something lol. You don't need to be the prettiest (however, I'm a freshman in college so most of the guys are pretty visually and sexually driven at this point). Personality is a biggg thing. Don't be too loud and obnoxious but at the same time being able to carry a decent conversation that is either interesting or funny is a plus. Also, don't be a slut. While at first guys like it, they're not going to put a ring on that and take you to mom. But don't be such a prude/tease. A real man will wait AT LEAST 3 months for sex after dating. Author ja123
Men want to be adored, respected, admired and needed. Hmmm you might be on to something ... What say you, guys? What would you like to be respected for? How can a woman make you feel needed?
OpheliaSong
Good sex, personal chemistry. Good sex is a by product of being admired and adored....and sometimes needed if a man is very good at giving orgasms.

That's how I see it, anyhow, and I'm a woman. Feel free to disagree. Yeah, but what about numbers 3 through 852? For the record, I most definitely provided #'s 1 and 2 for my ex, and well, she's my ex through no choice of my own....
EmilyJane
I just want someone who will love me for me and only me, that we make each other laugh, be able to talk, will cuddle me when I'm going to sleep, pat my hair when I'm sad and want to have sex a lot. I sorta assumed it was the same for guys.
OpheliaSong
Yeah, but what about numbers 3 through 852? For the record, I most definitely provided #'s 1 and 2 for my ex, and well, she's my ex through no choice of my own.... Neither one of those would be on my top 10 list..no offense OP. I don't need anyone to reinforce my ego through worrying over how I look all the time. I know I am beautiful. Secondly, I can protect myself pretty good and I am no wilting violet. Mine would be valued as an equal, admired for my character and genuine friendship and passionate love.
fortyninethousand322
What do I want? Hmm...I guess I'd like to at least kiss a girl. Not even tongue, just a peck on the lips for once in my life would be nice (I'd settle for cheek though I guess). Outside of that, maybe a girl to go to some ballgames with me. Maybe go to a museum or something like that. Whatever. That's what I want...

Sorry to hear that. For the record, she never deserved you in the first place. No offense taken. I appreciate your perspective. What you are pointing out are things that are generally appreciated or revealed in a longer-term context, no? Apart from being valued as an equal. Physical contact and quality time. BillJJ
I can only speak for myself but I like somebody that is Kind Caring Understanding Intelligent Creative Trustworthy Funny Strong Kooky (as me) Can be my best friend and my girlfriend Can accept me having ADHD and OCD Wants children and can be a good Mum Knows her music history and loves music. Doesn’t drink or do drugs (I got addicted to both after my first girlfriend passed away and I wouldn’t go down that road with another person) Hates Rap and Techno Can sing Can play an instrument With the exception of the singing my girlfriend has all those qualities and as a musician and a songwriter I always wanted to be with another singer but it isn’t important.

Yur
This would be my answer: - down to earth and not self absorbed - more geekish than clubbyish (not bash you over the head clubby, party clubby) - various shared interests - less materialistic - make me feel wanted - physically attractive to me (I'm a sucker for nice eyes and a warm smile) And I'm golden. BikerAccnt
If we are talking physicality, I actually prefer a more muscular fit tone than big boobs. But, that's me. Otherwise, as others have said, I want to feel appreciated and needed. Not just some accessory to be tossed in a box at the end of an evening. I want someone to share lives pleasures and sadness' with. Edited December 31, 2013 by a LoveShack.org Moderator

WrinkledForehead
They're lyrics, but here's one of several lists I've referred to: I want somebody who sees the pointlessness And still keeps their purpose in mind I want somebody who has a tortured soul Some of the time I want somebody who will either put out for me Or put me out of misery Or maybe just put it all to words And make me go, you know I never heard it put that way Make me go, what did you just say? I want somebody who can hold my interest Hold it and never let it go Someone who can flatten me with a kiss That hits like a fist Or a sentence, that stops me like a brick wall If you hear me talking Listen to what I'm not saying If you hear me playing guitar Listen to what I'm not playing And don't ask me to put words To all the silences I wrote Don't ask me to put words To all the spaces between notes In fact if you have to ask, forget it Do and you'll regret it I'm tired of being the interesting one I'm tired of having fun for two Just lay yourself on the line And I might lay myself down by you But don't sit behind your eyes And wait for me to surprise you I want somebody who can make me Scream until it's funny Give me a run for my money I want someone who can Twist me up in knots Tell me, for the woman who has everything What have you got? I want someone who's not afraid of me Or anyone else In other words I want someone Who's not afraid of themself. Do you think I'm asking too much? >Ani Difranco<

Doesn’t drink or do drugs (I got addicted to both after my first girlfriend passed away and I wouldn’t go down that road with another person) Hates Rap and Techno Can sing Can play an instrument This is a great list. It reminds of a friend who could've written it. Funny, I have some things that are on the list, but, alas, he and I do not have chemistry. You wrote a lot about what you are looking for, but how do you want a woman to make you feel?
Author ja123
I think you left out a big one... 3- to make her feel financially secure. That could perhaps fall under the larger umbrella of "feeling protected", but a man can also make a woman feel emotionally safe/protected. I'd say a lot (if not the majority) of women would take that over the money.
