In case anyone is interested, here’s my background story: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/breaking-up-reconciliation-coping/breaks-breaking-up/423492-heartbroken-again#post5199178

Over the course of time, I understood how important NC is. It’s the 3rd time I go for it. Not only I cut all ties that I could, but the thing is, I don’t even feel the need to contact L (that’s how I’ll call him).

But I do have the following problem: L and I have a common circle of friends and classmates. In the past week, I bumped into him twice at Uni. First time I saw him, I felt like vomiting, my hands were shaking and I dropped some papers on the floor (he was right in front of me). The second time, things were slightly better – I was really nervous on the inside, but I tried to keep calm and and look easy-breezy.

Oh, and another thing that bothers me, is that a lot of people talk about him – and I don’t know how to avoid those stories.

I can’t really help it. I get all emotional when it comes about him. And sincerely, the last thing someone needs when they want to get over (a more or less) traumatic event, is a constant reminder of the situation.

In case I'll see him again, my plan is to keep my act together and ignore him, maybe smile if he throws me mean looks, and then I’ll come and cry here, on LS, hah :lmao:

I was wondering – do you have any strategies which you apply in cases like this? Like breathing in a certain way, thinking about something else etc. If so, please share.

Well rumor has it if you stop breathing than you won't think about anyone anymore :p

You can walk a different pathway to avoid him in the hallway. You can get yourself a stress ball to squeeze, or just stare off somewhere and concentrate on that spot.

There's really no way around it :C

Sorry.
