That Was No Accident: Details

It's old but I was just looking around online and found it and I was interested because obviously a lot of people on here think I would do that, and if I was older I probaBly would consider it. Anyways I just want opinions about the whole concept. It seems like a lot of people do it a lot and no one really cares. I went out with a guy a few weeks ago who was 28 with a 2 year old and he said "I will always use condoms now I was with my ex 2 years she told me she was on birth control and now I have a 2 year old go figure". I think everyone knows all the risks of sex so if you engage in it then oh well for you. I also saw on Sex and the City a lady was like "well if he doesn't propose to me by December, I will just stop taking my birth control". It seems like a lot of people go this route but you wouldn't know because who would admit that? It does kind of suck for the men though, I feel a little bad for them kind of.

Fully half of USA pregnancies "unplanned". Your article is not

breaking news, unfortunately.

See and it's not a bad thing though and sometimes it works out you know? Idk I mean I think the trapping is bad but if you're in your 30s you don't have a lot of options

I would personally hate to be with someone only because I had trapped them. I would rather be on my own and happy than with someone because I am desparate. Regardless of age.

That's true, but what if you already love the person and you've been with them for years and a marriage proposal and babies are eventually going to happen, they just haven't happened as fast as you expected and your biological clock is ticking? I mean the article said your peak pregnancy time is 20-24 in all honesty I only have 2 more years left of my peak time

It's pathetic and selfish.

I can't imagine being that desperate. "Trapping" someone. Now you have a baby and someone who feels forced to be with you and think you'll have a happy life? It's delusional if you ask me.

The best relationships are those in which both partners choose each other fully and want to be there. Even good relationships can be strained by kids and stress, so I cannot imagine how lonely some women feel who are with a man just because they had a baby with him and he only stayed for that reason smh. It will even less likely work out and be a happy, fulfilling relationship.

No thanks!

That is understandable, but what about if you are with that person for years and are in a happy relationship you just do it to push things a little faster?

On one level I can understand, men shouldn't get to operate on their own timeline because they can have kids until 105 where as women only have about 15 good quality years, if that.

You can use a sperm donor.

Eww gross...

Unplanned pregnancies are one thing but consciously and purposely 'speeding things along' with a partner by creating another life is a fundamental betrayal of trust, IMO. The article may accurately portray real life circumstances but I would heartily discourage following that path in intimate relations.

It's the one and only form of socially acceptable fraud.

Socially acceptable? If I heard that a woman did that, I'd be horrified.

You are taking another persons entire life into your hands and removing choice from them for a major life decision, and you don't see how selfish it is?

What's so gross about it? Tricking some dude into getting you pregnant is no less gross, and in many cases, once you're knocked up, he will flee quicker than your panties came off, hence sperm donor.

And many women use a sperm donor to have a child. It's not gross, and its a valid option for many. Besides, it's not like you need to swallow it. :D:o:p

Sorry- meant to quote IIB, comment of this being gross.

I mean I guess I would consider it if I wasn't in a relationship by the time 30 hits but idk its weird to just pick some random persons sperms

And yet the legal system will happily force you to pay for your victimization for 18+ years.

I'd say that makes it socially acceptable to do.

Socially acceptable and legal are different.

When it comes to relationships these days, the law is becoming more and more indifferent. You can get screwed over by a relationship, and you have no legal recourse. Adultery is effectively legal -- no court will prosecute it.

Men should protect themselves. Don't they have hormonal birth control for men yet? Use a condom, too.

It's a last resort. But "tricking" a man is disgusting.

Let me know once you see a widespread movement protesting this injustice against men and I'll agree that it's not considered socially acceptable.

I actually had no idea this kind of thing happened. It seems nuts.

Is there a widespread movement against adultery? Is adultery socially acceptable?

Why not just find a man who wants kids and commitment. There are plenty around.

I have known men who were trapped into pregnancies. It's not that uncommon. Plenty of women I have had sex with in the past told me they were on birth control when they were not, thankfully I seemed to have lucked out with a condom every time. Personally think that it is a horrible thing to do and for someone to rationalize it as a good thing is a big stretch.

It isn't necessary to trap a man via pregnancy. There are many men who would gladly be married to a woman. Some women don't like those men I suppose. If you require pregnancy to keep a man he still won't stay. He'll come around for the child at most and find another woman. It solves nothing and there is no justification for duplicity.

This. 'Trapping' an irresponsible player type guy with pregnancy doesn't work. Even if the kid is born and he turns responsible he will be responsible with another woman, not the one who lied to him to get pregnant.

Throw a rock and you'll hit one. Good guys are everywhere.

**** like this scares me...I've heard stories about single women who are obsessed with having a baby so they sleep with a guy and steal some of his sperm to impregnate themselves with later.

Guys this is why you always flush the condom down the toilet when having casual sex.

I actually read somewhere that that doesn't work because sperm don't live outside of the body or something idk? Or it isn't for long. Anyways how would you put a condom into you whowho? seems like too much work to me.

Then you are a deceptive, manipulative, conniving individual who is taking the wants and needs of the person you are professing to love and crapping all over them.

Frankly, I think that if it can be proven that a woman does this/has done this she should have to be medically sterilized so she can never do it again.

It's fraud, it's financial manipulation and in many ways it can be compared to rape.

Ok I can understand that but men need to be a little more considerate of our biological clock. If I have a decent job and so does he, and we live together and we are happy and I want a baby then dammit it is time to make a baby!
